Alright, guys, so I finally got around to setting up the draft order for my fantasy football league this year. It’s always a bit of a hassle, but it’s gotta be done, right?
Figuring Out the Method
First thing I did was decide how we were gonna pick the order. We’ve done it a bunch of different ways in the past – pulling names out of a hat, random number generators, even a ridiculously complicated system involving a Mario Kart race one year (don’t ask). This time, I wanted something simple, but still kinda fun.
I thought about just doing a straight-up lottery, but then I remembered this online tool I saw someone mention on Reddit. Seemed way easier than messing around with slips of paper.
Using an Online Tool
So, I went online and did some digging. There are actually a ton of these draft order generators out there. I ended up using one that looked pretty straightforward. You just plug in everyone’s names, and it spits out a randomized order. Easy peasy.
I grabbed my league roster – me, Mark, Lisa, Chris, Sarah, Big Dave, Emily, and Kevin – and typed all the names into the generator. I made sure to double-check the spelling, because you know someone would complain if their name was wrong (looking at you, Kevin).
Generating the Order
With all the names in, I hit the button to generate the order. The website did its thing, there was a little animation, and then… boom! The draft order appeared on my screen:

- 4. Sarah
- 5. Me!
- 6. Big Dave
- 7. Emily
- 8. Kevin
I copy and pasted to share.
Sharing the Results
I immediately copy-pasted the order into our league’s group chat. Of course, the complaining started almost instantly. Kevin, naturally, was not thrilled about being last. Big Dave was surprisingly chill about being sixth. I, for one, was pretty happy with fifth – not too early, not too late.
There was lot of trash-talking and then I sent out a message to everyone with the official order and a reminder of the draft date and time.
And that’s it! Draft order sorted. Now comes the real fun – the endless hours of research, mock drafts, and arguing about who’s gonna be this year’s sleeper pick. Bring it on!
