Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this fantasy baseball thing for a while now, and let me tell you, figuring out the closers is a real pain. I mean, you gotta have a good closer to lock down those saves, right? So, I decided to really dig in and rank these guys to make my life easier, and maybe it’ll help some of you too.
First thing I did was start looking at all the usual places for stats. You know, places that track saves, strikeouts, ERA, all that good stuff. I made a big list of all the potential closers, just to get a feel for who’s out there.
Then, I started watching some games. Yeah, I know, tough life, right? But seriously, you gotta see these guys in action. Are they calm under pressure? Do they have that killer instinct? Or do they look like they’re about to fold like a cheap lawn chair in the ninth inning?
Here’s what I did next: I started ranking them into tiers. Like, the top dogs, the guys you can really rely on. Then the next level, still good, but maybe a little less consistent. And then the guys you might take a chance on, but you’re sweating bullets every time they come into the game.
- Tier 1: These are the elite, the cream of the crop.
- Tier 2: Solid choices, but keep an eye on them.
- Tier 3: Risky, but could pay off big time. Or blow up in your face.
I kept tweaking my rankings, based on how these guys were performing. Some dudes started strong and then fizzled out. Others started slow but then caught fire. It’s a wild ride, I’m telling you.
I wrote down all my notes, made some charts, it was full-on analysis mode. It is a little messy, but you know it worked.

After all that, I finally had a ranking system I felt pretty good about. It’s not perfect, and things change fast in baseball, but it gave me a solid foundation for making my fantasy decisions. It took me some time to accomplish it, but at least I’m not flying blind anymore when it comes to picking my closers. And hey, maybe my little experiment will help some of you out there too.
