Alright, listen up, y’all gonna hear me talk about these basketball fellas, the best point guards ever, you know, the ones dribbling and passing the ball all fancy-like.

Best darn point guards ever, that’s what we’re talkin’ about. Throughout this basketball history stuff, lots of these fellas scored a whole heap of points, passed the ball real good, and even grabbed them rebounds, yeah, like snatchin’ apples from a tree.
Now, there’s been a whole mess of good players in this NBA thing, both now and way back when. So, picking the tippy-top best? That’s like trying to pick the best watermelon in the whole darn patch – everyone’s got their own idea.
First off, we gotta talk about this fella, Steph Curry. Folks say he gets 24.6 points a game, and passes the ball for 6.5 assists, and gets almost 5 rebounds. That’s a lot, y’all, like carryin’ a whole bunch of groceries all by yourself. He shoots the ball, and swish, it goes right in, most of the time. Like throwin’ a rock into a bucket, he’s that good. Folks call him a real game changer. He changed how these young fellas play. They all want to shoot like him now.
Then there’s this Kyrie Irving fella. Some say he’s one of the best 15 ever. He’s real shifty, you know, like a snake in the grass, hard to catch. And he can score like nobody’s business. He dribbles the ball like it’s tied to his hand. Folks say he’s got all the skills. He can score, he can pass, he does it all.
- Magic Johnson: Now, this Magic fella, he was before my time a bit, but the old folks, they talk about him like he was somethin’ special. Big fella, for a point guard, but he could pass the ball like a magician. No-look passes, behind-the-back passes, he did it all. And he won a whole bunch of championships, too. They say he made everyone around him better.
- Isiah Thomas: This fella, Isiah, he was tough as nails, they say. Small, but fearless. He’d drive to the basket, no matter who was in his way. And he could score, too. A real leader, that one. Folks say he played with a lot of heart. He never gave up, no matter what.
- John Stockton: Now, John Stockton, he wasn’t flashy, but he was steady as a rock. He passed the ball better than just about anyone. And he played forever, it seems like. He and Karl Malone, they were a heck of a duo. They say he was the ultimate team player. He always made the right play, never cared about getting the credit.
And there’s plenty more, y’all. Oscar Robertson, they called him the “Big O”. He got all them triple doubles. That means he got lots of points, lots of assists, and lots of rebounds, all in the same game. Jason Kidd, another one who could really pass that ball. Steve Nash, smooth as silk, that fella. And young fellas these days, like Ja Morant, so fast and athletic. And Luka Doncic, so clever and tricky. It’s hard to keep track of them all, like tryin’ to count all the stars in the sky.
So, who’s the best? Like I said, everyone’s got their own opinion. But these fellas I mentioned, they were all somethin’ special. They could dribble, they could pass, they could score. And most important, they made their teams win. That’s what matters in basketball, you know. Winnin’. Not all that fancy stuff, just plain ol’ winnin’.
It’s like comparing apples and oranges, I tell ya. But one thing’s for sure, these point guards, they’re the engine of the team. They make everything go. Without them, the team’s like a car with no wheels, just sittin’ there, goin’ nowhere.
And you know, basketball keeps changin’. These young fellas today, they play different than the fellas back in the day. But the good ones, they all got somethin’ in common. They got talent, they work hard, and they love to play the game. And that’s what makes them the best, y’all.
It’s been fun talkin’ your ears off ’bout these fellas. I hope y’all got a better feel for these court generals. Remember now, it’s all just my opinion, just an old woman’s take on this basketball stuff. You go watch some games, and you decide for yourself who you think is the best. That’s the fun part, you know?
