Alright, so I’ve been diving deep into Fantasy Football this season, and one thing that’s always a headache is figuring out player rankings by position. It’s like, you know Quarterbacks are important, but how do they really stack up against Running Backs or Wide Receivers when you’re trying to build a balanced team? So, I decided to do a little digging and sorting myself.

Getting Started with the Data
First things first, I needed some data. I grabbed some expert rankings from a couple of well-known Fantasy Football websites. I figured, these guys do this for a living, so their rankings have gotta be a decent starting point, right? I copied and pasted those rankings into a simple spreadsheet.
Sorting It Out
Once I had all the names and their positions in the spreadsheet, I started sorting. The spreadsheet software made this pretty easy. I could sort by position first, so all the QBs were together, then all the RBs, WRs, TEs, and so on. After I had all the guys in their position groups I started to compare players.
Comparing Across Positions
Then I started to move from player to player. For example, is a top-tier Quarterback, the guy who’s supposed to throw for 40 touchdowns, more valuable than a workhorse Running Back who might get you 1,500 yards and 12 touchdowns? After review,I could go on my way.
Comparing across different positions can be hard, after sorting positions I just went with my gut and general observations about fantasy football.
My Final Rankings List
- Quarterbacks: I realized how important it is to have a solid QB, so I ranked the top 5-6 guys pretty high.
- Running Backs: These guys are the bread and butter, so they came next.
- Wide Receivers: I put a premium on the guys who get a ton of targets.
- Tight Ends: There are only a few truly elite ones, so those guys got a boost.
- Kickers and Defenses: Yeah, I left these for the last rounds.
So, that’s basically it. I took some expert rankings, sorted them by position, made some judgment, and came up with my own custom rankings. It’s not rocket science, but it’s definitely helped me feel more prepared for my drafts this year. Hope this helps you too! Good luck with your season!
