Back to the phone. Amazingly, the Athletic Secretary called me back an hour later! Confirmed that first game date – August 23rd vs. West. Said the official schedule PDF was going up on the school website “very soon,” but she could email it if I wanted. Took her up on that!
Putting It All Together
Got the PDF an hour later. Printed it straight out for the fridge. Also forwarded it to the family group chat so my wife and the kid wouldn’t nag me later. Took some doing, but got the main thing everyone actually wants to know: Bearden starts playing football on Friday, August 23rd.
My advice? If the website’s lagging behind (which it still was when I last checked), call the school office directly and ask for Athletics. Or try those chaotic local sports groups if you can stomach the noise. Sometimes the parents find out before the official stuff gets posted. Persistence is key. And hey, at least I found out the first home game times too – saved myself an extra trip!
