Alright, folks, let’s talk about what I did with these baseball fantasy rankings. So, I wanted to make some rankings that are easy to understand and use. I’m no expert, but I figured I could pull something together that’s at least helpful, right?

First, I looked around at what other people were saying. I checked out some popular fantasy baseball sites and saw their rankings. You know, the usual suspects. I figured, these guys probably know what they’re talking about, so I used their rankings as a starting point.
Then, I did something a little different. Instead of just copying those rankings, I combined them. I took the rankings from a few different places and mashed them together. I called it my “Expert Consensus Ranking” – sounds fancy, doesn’t it? The idea was to get a more balanced view, rather than relying on just one source.
I also started to keep track of player data. I checked out a website called, I think it is, “MLB Depth Charts,” updated almost every day. I used it to keep my rankings fresh. You know how it is, one day a player’s hot, the next they’re not. I wanted my rankings to reflect that.
I also made sure to look at different positions. You got your catchers, your first basemen, your pitchers, and so on. I didn’t want to just focus on, say, pitchers and ignore everyone else. That wouldn’t be very helpful, would it?
Oh, and I decided to focus on a standard 5×5, 12-team mixed league. I figured that’s what most people play, so that’s what I went with.
- Made them easy to read and use.
- Combined rankings from several sites to make an “Expert Consensus Ranking”.
- Tracked player data to keep things current.
- Covered all the major player positions.
- Focused on the most common league type (5×5, 12-team).
I started putting this all together a while ago, maybe in January? And I’ve been updating it regularly. It’s not perfect, but I think it’s pretty good. I even added some notes next to each player, just to give a little more context.
I also looked at those “ADP” things, which I guess tell you where players are usually drafted. I’m not sure how much I believe in those, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to include them.
So yeah, that’s pretty much it. I made these rankings, I updated them a lot, and I tried to make them useful. I even created a spreadsheet for the draft day, free to get all the updates. It’s nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. If you’re into fantasy baseball, maybe you’ll find them helpful. If not, no worries. It was a fun little project for me, anyway.
