First Things First: Grabbing The Actual Schedule

Didn’t wanna mess around with shady sources, so I headed straight to the official Razorbacks athletics site. Took a minute to find the baseball section – navigation’s kinda wonky sometimes – but finally pulled up the schedule page. Saw it was a big PDF file. Printed that sucker out immediately. Call me old-fashioned, but I like having paper I can scribble on.

My Planning Tools

Cleared off my kitchen table – total disaster zone before that. Gathered my stuff:

  • Printed Schedule: Obvious one, the main piece.
  • Big Wall Calendar: Got one purely for baseball season. Sue me.
  • Highlighters: Blue for home games, red for away. Yellow for must-see rivalry games.
  • Sticky Notes: For jotting down hotels I saw near stadiums last year.
  • Notebook: Where I track travel costs, gas estimates, ticket prices over time.
  • Laptop: For checking travel sites later, hotel points, stuff like that.

Mapping Out The Season

Started circling dates on the wall calendar first. Pencil only – learned my lesson the hard way after accidentally using permanent marker last year. Ugh. Focused on finding good stretches. Found a solid homestand in late April against LSU – circled that yellow highlighter like five times. Big one.

Then looked at away trips. Saw they play Texas A&M in College Station early May. Weather should be decent then, not the full Texas summer furnace yet. Wrote “Possible Road Trip?” on a sticky note right there on the calendar. Definitely checking vacation days for that week.

Checking Ticket Stuff

Tried poking around the ticket section on the site. Knew season tickets were probably long gone, so focused on single-game info. Most weren’t listed yet. Jotted down the on-sale dates for key games I circled. Reminder set on my phone for February 15th – gotta try for those LSU seats early.

Travel Stuff Guesstimates

Flipped open the notebook. Looked back at last year’s road trip notes to Fayetteville. Gas was crazy expensive then, like $4 bucks a gallon for premium (my truck needs it). Budgeted higher for gas this year. Sad times.

For hotels near Baum-Walker Stadium, scanned my old sticky notes. Found one I stayed at last spring – “The Graduate”. Pricey, but walkable to the field. Wrote “Check rewards points?” next to it. Airbnbs fill up quick near campus, noted that down too for backup.

Final Checks & Random Thoughts

Poured over the printed schedule one last time. Realized the home opener is a mid-week game. Annoying, but maybe I can swing a long weekend. Highlighted it blue anyway.

Tbh, I’m kinda bummed they play Vanderbilt away again. Had a blast in Nashville last time, great vibe. Oh well.

Cross-referenced my wall calendar with the work calendar on my laptop. Spotted one potential conflict around SEC tournament dates – gotta talk to my boss way early about that.

Done… For Now

Stood back and looked at my kitchen table masterpiece. Papers everywhere, sticky notes sticking out, calendar looking properly violated. Good start. The big takeaway? Things sell out FAST. Hotels, tickets, parking passes – if you snooze, you lose big time.

Feeling organized now. Next step is actually booking stuff when the time comes. Gotta stay on top of those on-sale dates. Took a picture of the messy planning table. It ain’t pretty, but it works for me. If you’re thinking about going, seriously, don’t wait. Figure out your target games and start plotting!
