Best Fantasy Football Draft Strategy (2023 Rankings)

Alright, so I decided to get into Fantasy Football this year. I’ve always watched football, but never really understood the whole “fantasy” thing. Figured it was time to see what all the fuss was about.

Best Fantasy Football Draft Strategy (2023 Rankings)

First thing I did was, well, figure out where to even play. I asked some buddies, Googled around a bit, and ended up on one of the big-name sites. Seemed easy enough to sign up, just the usual email and password stuff.

Then came the draft. Oh boy, the draft. I had no idea what I was doing. I mean, I know the big-name players, but after the first few rounds, I was completely lost. I ended up just picking guys whose names I recognized, or who had cool-sounding team names. Totally scientific, I know.

My “strategy” (if you can even call it that) was basically:

  • Grab a top quarterback – everyone says that’s important.
  • Get some running backs who seemed like they run a lot.
  • Fill in the rest with… whoever was left.

I think I ended up with a team that’s, uh, “eclectic.” I’ve got some good players, some questionable ones, and a few I’ve literally never heard of. It’s a learning experience, right?

Setting My Lineup is… Interesting

Now, every week, I have to figure out who to actually play. This is where it gets tricky. There are all these stats and projections, and I’m just staring at the screen like, “What does ‘PPR’ even mean?!” (Turns out it’s “points per reception.” Who knew?).

I’m mostly just going with my gut, picking players who I think will have a good game. Sometimes it works, sometimes it… doesn’t. I’ve had a few wins, a few losses, and a whole lot of confusion.

But you know what? It’s actually kind of fun. I’m learning a lot (mostly through trial and error), and it makes watching the actual games way more interesting. Now I’m yelling at the TV for different reasons – not just because my team is losing, but because my fantasy team is losing too!

So, that’s my Fantasy Football journey so far. Still a newbie, still figuring things out, but definitely enjoying the ride. Maybe next year I’ll actually know what I’m doing… maybe.
