Alright, so today I decided to jump into a mock draft for NFL fantasy football. I’ve played fantasy football for years, but I always like to get some practice in before the real deal. It’s a good way to get a feel for player values, test out different strategies, and just, you know, get my head in the game.

Getting Started

>

First things first, I needed to find a mock draft to join. There are tons of sites out there, but I went to do it. it is free and easy to use.

Once the draft lobby filled up, it was go time. I randomly got assigned the 5th pick in a 12-team league. Not bad, not bad. I usually prefer a top-3 pick, but 5th gives you some solid options.

The Draft

  • Round 1: With the 5th pick, I was hoping one of the top running backs would fall to me. Luckily, It is good!.
  • Round 2: My strategy is always building on solid RB.
  • Round 3: I decided to snag an elite.
  • Rounds 4-6: Time to start filling out the rest of my starting lineup. I grabbed a couple of wide receivers I’m high on this year, guys who I think are poised for breakout seasons. I also picked up my quarterback.
  • Rounds 7-10: Here’s where you start looking for value and potential sleepers. I focused on grabbing players with high upside, even if they’re a bit riskier. I also made sure to get a solid tight end.
  • Rounds 11-15: These late rounds are all about depth and defense/special teams. You’re looking for backups who could become starters if injuries happen, and you’re also trying to find a kicker and a defense you like.

Post-Draft Thoughts

After the draft was over, I took a good look at my team. I used it for mock draft.

Overall, I feel pretty good about how it went. I got some of the players I was targeting, and I think I have a good balance of starters and depth. Of course, it’s just a mock draft, so who knows what will actually happen in the real season. But it’s a fun way to get prepared, and it definitely gets me hyped for the start of fantasy football!
