Okay, so I wanted to get a jump on my fantasy football prep for 2024. I’m in a PPR (points per reception) league, so knowing the projected rankings is super important. Here’s how I went about it:

Started with Some Digging
First, I just started, you know, looking around. There are tons of sites out there with rankings, but it’s hard to know who to trust. I wanted to find a few different sources to compare.
Compared and Contrasted
Once I collected a few, I started really comparing. I looked at the top 20 or so players, and checked out how different sites were rating. Some guys were pretty consistent across the board, but others had huge differences! That’s where it gets interesting.
Focused on My Team’s Needs
I have kept a few players in my team. Knowing my keepers meant I could start to figure out what positions I really needed to focus on in the draft. Like, if I’m already solid at running back, I can prioritize wide receivers or a tight end.
Made My Own Cheat Sheet
- Created my own simple spreadsheet.
- Listed out all the players and where all the sites ranked them.
- Averaged out the rankings from a few of my most trusted sources.
Considered Injury Risks and stuff
One thing I’ve learned the hard way is that you gotta factor in injury history. Some guys are amazing, but if they’re always getting hurt, it’s a big gamble. So I made notes on any players with major injury concerns in the past.
I also consider other factors like, if a player changed teams, or if there’s a new coach. Stuff like that can totally change a player’s output.
Kept it Updated!
Rankings are always get updated before the season starts. Players get injured in training camp, rookies show their talents, things change. So I’ve made a note to revisit my rankings and all the sites I used a few more times before my actual draft.
It’s not an exact science, more like an educated guess. But I feel way more prepared now that I’ve done my homework. We’ll see how it all plays out when the season starts!
