Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with daily fantasy basketball projections, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I wanted to get better at picking players for my lineups, so I started digging into this whole projection thing.

First, I had to figure out where to even get these projections. There are a few websites out there that offer them, some free, some paid. I started with the free ones, obviously, because who wants to pay for something when you don’t even know if it works? I found a couple of sites that seemed okay and started looking at their daily NBA DFS player projections for DraftKings, which they update a few times a day, and they even have live odds.
Then, I had to learn how to actually use these projections. It’s not as simple as just picking the players with the highest projected points. I found out that instead of stacking players like you might in football or baseball, you really gotta pay attention to things like injuries and matchups in NBA DFS.
So I started looking at which players were injured, who they were playing against, and how those teams were performing. I’d cross-reference that info with the projections to see if there were any hidden gems – you know, players who might be overlooked but had a good chance of scoring big because of the situation. At first, I was just choosing players for single-game slates on DraftKings, where you can pick a player to get 1.5 times the fantasy points.
After a while, I started getting the hang of it. I even started using this free NBA lineup optimizer I found online. You put in your projections, and it spits out a lineup for you. You can even set limits on how much you want to use certain players, which is cool for those big GPP contests. I picked my game: chose my DFS provider DraftKings, then the game type which was GPP.
It took some time, but I actually started winning some money! Not a ton, but enough to make it fun. I learned that these projections are not perfect. Sometimes a player goes off and scores way more than projected, and sometimes they totally bust. But, overall, using these projections has definitely helped me make better decisions.
I’m still learning, but I feel like I’ve come a long way from when I first started. It’s not just about picking the best players anymore. It’s about understanding the game, the matchups, and the projections to find the best value. And there was even a daily NBA DFS primer on FanDuel Research that helped me out each day.
So yeah, that’s my journey with daily fantasy basketball projections so far. It’s been a lot of trial and error, but I’m finally starting to see some results. If you’re thinking about getting into it, I definitely recommend checking out some projections. Just remember, they’re not magic, but they can definitely give you an edge!
