Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into this whole tennis thing for a while now. I heard about the Lee County Women’s Tennis League, or LCWTL, and it sounded like just the push I needed. Turns out, it’s been around since the 70s, since ’74 to be exact. A group of ladies who were into tennis just decided to start their own league, how cool is that?
Getting Started
First, I scouted around a bit to see where I could even play. I mean, I’m in south Florida, so there’s gotta be courts everywhere, right? And yeah, there are tons of places to play organized tennis. I just picked a spot that looked decent enough and was close to home.
Finding Info Online
Next, I dug into the LCWTL website. Man, it’s a bit of a maze. They have all these sections and rules and stuff, it took me a good while to figure out where to find what I need. Also, there are lots of options on this website, I mean, too many. Even if I found the page I want, I still need to find the right options I need.
Figuring Out the League
- Selected my league, which was obviously the “USTA Lee County Women” one.
- Then I picked my skill level. Let’s just say I’m not a pro yet, I went with the 3.0 option.
The website has these “How To” videos, which is pretty nice for a newbie like me. They helped me understand a bit more about how the league works and how to navigate their site. And thank god they have the “quick link” option, which saved me lots of time.
Reflections
It’s kinda cool to think about how this all started back in 1973, around the same time Billie Jean King founded the Women’s Tennis Association. Makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger. Anyway, joining this league has been quite the experience. A little confusing at first with all the website stuff, but I’m getting the hang of it. It’s all about getting out there and playing, and I’m excited to see where this tennis journey takes me.
So, that’s my story of diving into the world of the Lee County Women’s Tennis League. It’s been fun, a bit challenging, but definitely rewarding. Can’t wait to hit the courts more often!
