Fantasy Football Draft Picks: Who to Grab and Who to Avoid

Okay, so, I gotta share my experience with this year’s fantasy football draft. It was a wild ride, let me tell you. It’s one of those things where you think you’re all prepared, but then bam! Things start going sideways, and you gotta think on your feet.

Fantasy Football Draft Picks: Who to Grab and Who to Avoid

First thing I did was hit up some websites to see what the “experts” were saying about who to avoid. You know, the usual suspects they always talk about. I read somewhere that draft day can be a total landmine, and they were not wrong. Gotta weed out those potential busts early on.

Then, I dove into my own strategy. I’m kinda old school, so I usually go for running backs first, then wide receivers. I started by choosing 2 RBs. I figured, get those solid points on the board, you know? Then I picked up some wide receivers and started filling out my flex positions. I feel like it’s a safe bet, been doing it for years.

Next, I thought about quarterbacks. I usually wait on QBs, not gonna lie. I know some folks go for them early, but I feel like you can find a decent one later on. I was reading that someone suggested to only pick up one QB, so that’s what I did. Also, I saw somewhere that suggested to skip picking up a kicker or defense, and instead just pick up whoever has the best matchup each week. I might try that this time around.

I also made a list of players to avoid, like James Cook from the Buffalo Bills. It seems like a lot of people are excited about him, but I don’t know, I just had a feeling.

Now, here’s where it got interesting. I had my eye on a couple of guys, but they got scooped up right before my turn! It’s frustrating, but that’s how it goes. You gotta have backups to your backups, I guess. I ended up going with some players I hadn’t really considered before. It felt a little risky, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?

I also spent some time looking at the top three picks overall: Christian McCaffrey, CeeDee Lamb, and Tyreek Hill. Seems like those guys are the real deal. No surprises there.

After it was all said and done, I took a step back and looked at my team. It’s definitely not what I initially envisioned, but I think it’s got potential. There are some solid players, a few gambles, and a whole lot of hope.

Here’s a quick rundown of what I did:

  • Started researching: Checked out some online advice about players to avoid.
  • Developed my strategy: Decided to focus on RBs first, then WRs, then flex positions.
  • Picked my team: Drafted players, adjusting my strategy when needed.
  • Considered the big names: Noted the top overall picks.
  • Reflected on my team: Felt good about the potential, despite some surprises.

In the end, that’s what fantasy football is all about. You make your plans, you roll with the punches, and you hope for the best. Now, we just gotta wait and see how the season plays out. Fingers crossed!
