Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this fantasy NBA thing for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I wanted to share my journey and how I came up with my own player rankings, you know, just my personal take on things.
First off, I started by looking at all the usual places for rankings. You know those big-name sites that everyone talks about. They’ve got these lists of like 150, 250 players, all ranked and ready to go. They update them pretty much every day, which is crazy. And they give reasons why each player is ranked that way. But I wanted to do it myself.
So, I dove into the stats. Points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks – you name it. And I didn’t just look at last season, oh no. I went back a few years, just to see who’s been consistently good and who’s just a flash in the pan. There is also utility player, I had to get that straight. I thought, that is cool, I can have a player who is not tied to a position, makes it flexible.
- I started simple, just looking at overall fantasy points. Did you know that since 1950, this guy Hakeem Olajuwon had the most fantasy points in a single game? Over 100! That’s nuts! Anyway, total fantasy points were my starting point.
- Then, I started thinking about positions. Centers usually get more rebounds, guards get more assists, that kind of thing. So, I adjusted my rankings based on positional scarcity. Like, if there aren’t many good centers, then the good ones become even more valuable, right?
- I also factored in things like age, injuries, and team changes. A young guy on a bad team might get more playing time and put up bigger numbers. An older player who is always hurt, well, not so much.
After all that, I finally had my own rankings list. It’s not perfect, and it’s always changing, but it’s mine. I feel pretty good about it, and it’s helped me do pretty well in my fantasy leagues. It’s way more fun than just copying some list from the internet, and I learned a ton in the process. My list is not as comprehensive as those big sites but it helps me win. So yeah, that’s my story. Hope it’s been at least a little bit interesting or helpful, maybe.
