I’ve been itching to get back on the tennis court lately, but my old racket has seen better days. So, I figured it was time for an upgrade. I decided to hit up Dick’s Sporting Goods because it’s close by and I know they carry a decent selection.

When I got there, I headed straight for the tennis section. It was pretty overwhelming, to be honest. There were so many rackets! Different brands, different colors, different sizes… I didn’t even know where to start.
I spent a good while just browsing, picking up rackets, feeling their weight, and checking their grip. I remembered reading somewhere that head size, length, grip, balance, and weight are important factors. So I tried to keep those in mind, but mostly, I just went with what felt comfortable in my hand. And I thought about my playing style, but it’s been a while since I’ve played.
Narrowing Down My Choices
After wandering around for a bit, a few rackets caught my eye. I saw some of the top picks for intermediate players that were supposed to be lightweight and have a good balance of power and control.
- The Wilson Blade Feel RXT 105 looked decent, and it was only $69.99.
- The Prince 110 Thunder Strike was even cheaper at $59.99.
- There was also a Wilson Women’s Allure 105 for $49.99, but I wasn’t sure about that one.
I picked up a Wilson Ultra 100UL V4.0 Tennis, but it was way out of my price range at $249.00! They also had some junior rackets, like the Head Junior Speed 23 for $24.99 and a Babolat Rafael Nadal Junior Tennis one for $39.00, but obviously, those weren’t for me. But I remember there is a great choice that’s Yonex Ezone 100 and Dunlop FX 500 racket. These two are great for me.
I also noticed some accessories, like the HEAD Hydrosorb Tour grip for $8.99 and a Prince Men’s 6-Pack Tennis Racquet Bag for $59.99. I figured I could always come back for those later.
Making the Decision
In the end, I decided to go with the Yonex Ezone 100. It felt good in my hand, had a nice weight to it, and seemed like it would be a good all-around racket for me as I get back into playing. Plus, I heard that Yonex Ezone 100 is pretty popular among intermediate players.
I took it to the counter, paid for it, and now I’m excited to try it out! Hopefully, it’ll help me get back into the swing of things and improve my game.
