Okay, so I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to keep my hair out of my face during tennis matches. I mean, looking cute is a bonus, but it’s really about being practical, right? So, I started experimenting with different styles.

First, I tried the classic high ponytail. Super easy, just pull your hair up high and secure it with a hair tie. It definitely keeps the hair out of your face, and it’s a pretty standard go-to for sporty looks. I played a couple of matches with it, and it held up pretty well, even when I was running all over the court.
- Tried the high ponytail.
- It was simple and effective.
- Kept hair out of my face during the match.
Next, I thought, why not try some braids? I went with two French braids, one on each side. It took a bit longer to do, but I liked how secure it felt. Plus, it looked kinda cute! I noticed that with the braids, I didn’t have to adjust my hair at all during the game. Total win! Plus, I realized that after unbrading, my hair has become curly and pretty.
- Experimented with French braids.
- Felt very secure and didn’t need adjustments.
- Looked cute and kept hair completely out of the way.
Then, I decided to go for a bun. I figured a high, tight bun would be perfect. I twisted my hair up, wrapped it around, and secured it with a bunch of bobby pins. Honestly, it was a bit of a hassle to get it right, and it didn’t feel as secure as the braids. After a few intense rallies, I felt it starting to come loose, so I had to redo it between sets.
- Attempted a high, tight bun.
- Difficult to get right and didn’t feel very secure.
- Had to redo it during the match.
Final Thoughts
After trying these out, I think braids are my favorite for tennis. They keep my hair totally out of my face, they’re super secure, and they look good. The high ponytail is a close second for its simplicity, but the braids just feel more reliable for a long match. The bun? Not so much. It looks okay, but it’s just not practical for me on the court. Maybe it is because my hair is 3a hair type, so it is suitable for most hairstyles.
So, yeah, that’s my little experiment with tennis hairstyles. I’m sticking with braids for now, but who knows, maybe I’ll try something new next time! It seems that the more symmetrical the hairstyle, the more pleasing it is to the eye.
