Well, well, well, let me tell you somethin’ about this world fastest serve in tennis thing. You see these young folks these days, they hit that ball so hard, I tell ya, it’s like a dang rocket! My old eyes can barely keep up. This whole thing about who serves the fastest, it’s a big deal, I guess.

Now, they got these fancy machines that measure how fast the ball goes. They call it, uh, kilometers per hour, or miles per hour. Back in my day, we didn’t have none of that. We just knew if it was fast or slow by how hard it was to hit back! But these fellas today, they’re hittin’ it faster than a greased piglet at the county fair.
I heard some fella named Sam Groth, he’s the one they say is the fastest. He hit that ball at, what was it now, 263.4 km/h. That’s 163.7 mph, as fast as those speed cars! That is what they call a world fastest serve in tennis. I can’t even imagine. Why, that ball’s probably still goin’! That is at a thing called a Challenger, whatever that is.
- They say he also hit one at Wimbledon at 147 mph, which is 236 km/h. Sounds like a different world to me.
- Then there’s that John Isner fella. He’s a tall drink of water, that one. They say he hit one at 253.0 km/h, that’s like 157.0 mph at Davis Cup or something.
And get this, there was this German fella, name of Oscar Otte, they say he hit the fastest serve in history at the US Open in 2021. That is what they say. That is a world fastest serve in tennis.
Then there is another fella, they call him Boris Becker. “Boom Boom”, they call him. Back in 1985, he won the Wimbledon thing. Young fella. They say he’s got a fast serve too. History and world. Well, that is a lot of information.
These young people and their tennis. They’re somethin’ else. I remember watchin’ that Novak Djokovic fella, he’s good, real good. They say he hit that ball 208 km/h or somethin’. That’s pretty fast, ain’t it? Even for a fella like him.
Now, the women, they got their own fastest serves too. But they don’t keep track of it as much, I hear. Somethin’ about not havin’ those fancy machines at all the games. They have all these different reasons why they don’t. But I bet those girls can hit it pretty hard too.
It’s all a bit much for me, to be honest. All these numbers and names. But I guess it’s important to these young folks. They like to keep track of who’s the fastest and the strongest. It’s like a competition, you see. Who can hit that little ball the hardest. This world fastest serve in tennis is what matters to them.
Back in my day, we just played for fun. We didn’t worry about who was the fastest. We just wanted to hit the ball over the net. But times change, I guess. These kids today, they’re always tryin’ to be the best at somethin’. And hittin’ that tennis ball, that’s what they want to be the best at.
This world fastest serve in tennis is important to them. These young folks and their tennis. That Sam Groth fella, 163.7 mph, that’s a whopper. That is a speed that is hard to believe.
Well, I suppose that’s all I got to say about that. It’s all a bit beyond me, but it’s somethin’ to think about. These young folks and their fast serves. It’s a different world these days, that’s for sure.
I remember when we used to play in the field with an old racket and a ball that was half flat. We didn’t care about no world fastest serve in tennis. But times are different now. These kids are like machines. Boom Boom, they call him, that Boris Becker. Well, I guess that is just the way it is now.
Well, that’s all I got to say about that. I hope you young folks enjoyed my ramblin’s. Just remember, it ain’t all about bein’ the fastest. Sometimes it’s just about enjoyin’ the game. But then again, what do I know? I’m just an old lady who remembers when things were simpler.
