Well, let me tell ya ’bout this blue whales basketball thing, you know? It’s a kinda big deal, or so they say. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just tellin’ it like I see it.
First off, they got this team, the Sichuan Blue Whales. Sounds kinda funny, whales playin’ basketball. I seen whales on TV once, big ol’ things, swimmin’ in the ocean. Can’t imagine ’em dribblin’ a ball, heh. But that’s what they call ‘em, the Sichuan Jinqiang Blue Whales. Sometimes they just say Sichuan Jinqiang, or even Sichuan Jinrong Industry. Fancy names, if you ask me.
This here basketball team, they been around a while, since like, 2009, I heard. That’s a long time, ain’t it? They play in this place called Sichuan, China. Never been there myself, but I hear it’s a big place. They play hard, runnin’ around and throwin’ that ball. I watch it sometimes on TV, when I ain’t got nothin’ better to do. Mostly I just see them youngsters runnin’ back and forth. I don’t really get all the rules and such but it seems lively enough.
- They got scores, you know, like who’s winnin’ and who’s losin’.
- And they got standings, shows where they at compared to other teams.
- And they play head-to-head matches, which I guess means one team against another.
People get all excited about it. They yell and cheer. Reminds me of the rooster crowin’ in the mornin’, all that noise. Seems they even got these things called cheers. Like, little sayings to get folks all riled up. They got cheers for basketball, cheers for football, cheers for just standin’ on the sidelines. I don’t know much about that, I just yell when somethin’ good happens, ya know? Like when that ball goes swish through the net, that’s always nice to see.
They say you can find all sorts of cheers, old ones and new ones, in somethin’ called a Cheerleader Handbook. Imagine that, a whole book just for cheerin’. They say it got everything you need. I reckon it’s for them young folks who like to jump around and shout. Me, I’m too old for all that. I prefer sittin’ on my porch swing and watching the world go by.
And this handbook, it’s supposed to get your creative cheer juices flowin’. Juices, huh? Sounds messy. But I guess it means it helps you come up with your own cheers. You know, get you all pumped up for the game, as they say. They say to practice and keep practicin’. I practiced makin’ biscuits once, burnt ‘em every time. Some things just ain’t for everybody, I guess.
So, this Sichuan Blue Whales team, they got a whole profile, you know. Like a story about ‘em. Says when they started, where they from, all their stats and titles and such. Stats? Titles? Sounds like somethin’ the government does. But I guess it’s important for these basketball folks. They even got achievements, like when they win somethin’ special, and goals, what they tryin’ to do, I suppose. It’s like readin’ the back of a seed packet, all that information.
They got fun facts too. I saw one that said “Sep 27, 2021 Fun Fact.” I don’t even know what the fact was, but they thought it was fun, so good for them. And they keep you updated with live scores and results. It’s like knowin’ when the neighbor’s cat had kittens, you just get the news somehow. And they tell ya when the next big game is, gettin’ you all excited and such. They said “Jul 9, 2023 To get you even more pumped for the next big game” and even something just 4 days ago. It seems like there is always something happening with these whales playing basketball.
All in all, this blue whales basketball is a lot of fuss. But folks seem to like it. They watch it, they cheer for it, they read all about it. Me, I’m just tryin’ to keep it all straight in my head. Whales playin’ basketball… Who woulda thunk it?
