Man, let me tell ya how I scrambled to find that dang schedule. Wife’s cousin plays on JV squad this year, promised I’d catch his home opener. Only problem? Nobody could tell me when it was happening.

My Wild Goose Chase Begins
First thing I did? Pulled up Jackson High School’s main website on my phone during coffee break. Big mistake. Total disaster. Clicked around for like ten minutes straight:
- Scrolled past lunch menus and PTA meeting notes
- Clicked “Athletics” tab… only found policy documents
- Saw “Sports Schedules”… led to LAST YEAR’S basketball schedule
- Spot searched “football”… nada
That junk was more buried than my kid’s gym socks. Figured maybe their social media’d work. Opened the blue bird app, found their official feed. Scrolled through months of fundraiser announcements and basketball tournament wins. Zero football. Saw one post from July saying “2024 football schedules coming soon!”… yeah, real helpful.
The Turning Point
Got desperate. Typed “Jackson High football 2024” straight into the search bar. Finally… FINALLY… saw a tiny link saying “2024 Athletic Event Calendar PDF”. Almost missed it between ads for local car dealers. Clicked faster than my dog when the treat bag rustles.
BAM! Pure gold. PDF loaded on screen:
- All home games marked clearly
- Away games with times AND locations
- Junior varsity games stacked under varsity dates
- Playoff weeks already blocked out
Turns out the whole dang thing was hiding under “District Resources” → “Athletic Department” → “Seasonal Calendars”. Like finding a needle in ten haystacks. Copied those dates straight into my phone’s calendar before the district site could change its mind. Cousin’s opener? October 11th. Coffee maker reminder set.
The Aftermath
Funny thing… told my buddy Gary about this whole circus next day. He grins, pulls out his old school flip phone. “Coach Johnson texts schedules directly to parents.” Guess whose kid doesn’t play football? Mine. Coulda saved two lunch breaks.
