My Frustrating Basketball Ranking Hunt
So today, my daughter wouldn’t stop buggin’ me about the latest Missouri high school girls’ hoops rankings. She plays JV, gotta see who the big dogs are, right? Figured it’d be a quick Google. Boy, was I wrong.

First thing I did was just type it straight into the search bar: “missouri high school girls basketball rankings 2025“. Hit enter expecting gold. Got a bunch of trash instead. Old articles from like 2023, some weird forum posts, absolutely nothin’ useful for right now. Felt kinda stupid, honestly.
Alright, scratch that. Thought maybe go straight to the source. Tried remembering any official Missouri sports sites. Coulda sworn there was a “Missouri State High School Activities Association” kinda thing. Dug around – yeah, MSHSAA. Headed there. Their website? Man, what a headache. Clicked around “Sports,” found “Basketball,” looked everywhere… felt like searching for a lost sock. Found schedules, rules, but zero rankings anywhere. Total dead end. Super annoying!
Getting kinda ticked now. Remembered some local news sites usually cover this stuff decently. Knew the big papers – think St. Louis, Kansas City outlets. Jumped over there. Had better luck, finally! Buried in their sports sections, under “High School,” sometimes tucked away in blogs or prep sports areas… there they were! The 2025 rankings! Took way longer than it should’ve.
Here’s the top teams everyone was buzzing about (at least, according to what I finally found late last week – gotta say, these sites take their sweet time updatin’):
- Incarnate Word Academy (Red Knights): Like always, apparently stacked. Coach gotta be smilin’.
- Kickapoo Chiefs (Springfield): Heard their defense is crazy tough this season.
- St. Joseph’s Academy (Angels): Consistent power, year after year.
- Liberty North Eagles: Sounds like they’re really flying high (sorry, had to). Strong offense chatter.
- Cardinal Ritter Lions: Keep hearing they’ve got speed to burn.
Finding this list? Absolute mission. Feel like I earned a dang medal just getting these names. Why’s it gotta be so hidden? You’d think they’d make the stuff fans actually care about easier to find, not harder. Anyway, told my kid the news, she’s happy. But yeah, took effort folks, real effort. Like finding a needle in a digital haystack sometimes.
