This morning I sat down with my coffee thinking, man, I should figure out Savannah High’s football schedule. My nephew just made varsity this year, and I wanna catch all his games. So I grabbed my phone thinking it’d be simple.

First thing I did was search “Savannah High School football schedule 2023” right? Figured I’d see the dates pop up instantly. But Google gave me nothing but news articles from last season and expired ticket sites. Total dead end.
The Wild Goose Chase
- School Website Nightmare: Clicked Savannah High’s official site. Found an athletics tab buried under three menus. When I got there – game times were blank. Just said “TBD” for every damn slot.
- Phone Call Fiasco: Called the main office. Lady was nice but transferred me five times between athletics department and coaches. Phone rang for ten minutes straight. Hung up.
- Social Media Bust: Checked their Twitter. Last tweet was a touchdown celebration from December 2022. Facebook had pizza fundraiser posts.
Got so annoyed I yelled at my laptop: “How hard is it to post kickoff times?!” Neighbor probably thinks I’m nuts.
The Breakthrough
Finally remembered Jake’s dad coaches pee-wee league. Texted him: “Yo where’s the REAL schedule?” Two minutes later he sends a photo – laminated sheet hanging in the booster club office! Whole season right there.
Manually typed every date into my notes app:
- Aug 25 vs Beach High (7:30PM)
- Sep 1 @ Johnson (5PM JV / 8PM Varsity)
- Sep 8 HOME vs Windsor (7:30PM)
- Sep 15 @ Jenkins (8PM)
- (etc…typed all 10 games)
Finished with a headache but weirdly satisfied? Saved it to my cloud drive as “OFFICIAL UNOFFICIAL SCHEDULE.” Gonna laminate my own copy tomorrow.
Moral of this nonsense? High schools make schedules harder to find than state secrets. Always go straight to the sports parents – they’re the real librarians.
