Nebraska High School Football Championships When Where and How to Watch Details

Alright guys, today’s adventure started because I straight up forgot when the dang Nebraska high school championships were happening. My neighbor’s kid is playing this year, and I promised I’d watch. So yeah, panic mode set in early Tuesday morning.

Nebraska High School Football Championships When Where and How to Watch Details

First thing I did was grab my beat-up laptop still covered in coffee stains from last week. Hopped onto the good ol’ internet and typed “Nebraska high school football championships 2023”. Got slammed with a bunch of sketchy ads and articles from like 2019 first – total mess. Almost threw my mouse across the room.

Getting Lost in the Nebraska School Activities Association Jungle

Finally stumbled onto the NSAA website – looked like it hadn’t been updated since dial-up days. Took forever to load, seriously felt like watching paint dry. Scrolled through menus labeled weird stuff like “Activities” and “Calendar” before finding the actual “Championships” tab buried halfway down. Why they gotta hide it?

Then the real hunt began:

  • WHEN: Had to click through three different pages just to confirm the dates. It’s Monday & Tuesday, November 20th & 21st. Whole season comes down to two days!
  • WHERE: For a minute, the page showed last year’s location – Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. Almost packed my bags before noticing the tiny “2023” update saying it’s BACK at Memorial Stadium. Would’ve looked real dumb driving to Omaha.
  • HOW TO WATCH: This part made me wanna scream. Spent another 20 minutes hunting for broadcast details. Found a tiny link saying “Streaming Info”. Clicked it. Nothing happened. Dead link. Just fabulous. Found another page mentioning “Nebraska Public Media” and checked my local channel listings on cable. Finally spotted it – both days covered live.

Checked the game times too. Monday starts at 10:30 AM for Class D-2, rolling all day. Tuesday kicks off at 10:15 AM for Class C-2. Seriously, who schedules football that early? Hope they serve coffee at the concession stands.

Double-Checking Everything (Because Mistakes Happen)

After the dead link fiasco, I wasn’t trusting anything. Texted my buddy Rick whose kid played last year. He confirmed the Memorial Stadium location and that Nebraska Public Media definitely airs it. Also reminded me tickets are cash-only if you go in person – almost forgot my wallet imagining that scene at the gate.

Saw rumors online about some fancy streaming app. Checked the official stuff again – no mention of any apps beyond the public broadcast. Probably just people blowing smoke. Sticking with the TV broadcast keeps it simple.

My Actual Plan (So I Don’t Screw This Up)

  • Set about fifty reminders on my phone. Forgot something last year and missed kickoff.
  • Charging my portable TV batteries NOW. Seen that thing die mid-game before. Not this time.
  • Called dibs on the living room couch. Told my kids they can watch Paw Patrol upstairs instead.
  • Put actual cash in my glove compartment for tacos near the stadium. Because cash-only nonsense applies to food too, apparently.

That was my Tuesday morning scavenger hunt. Way harder than it needed to be. But hey, at least I know when to yell at the TV now. See you all on Monday!
