So yesterday I realized my kid’s gonna try out for Hanover high school baseball next spring. Figured I better grab the 2025 season schedule now before life gets crazy. Seemed simple enough, right? Yeah, not so much.

The Hunt Begins
First thing I did? Hopped online like anybody else would. Went straight to Hanover High’s official site. Took me way longer than it should’ve to even find the athletics section. Buried under three layers of menus. Classic school website stuff.
Finally found baseball… only to see they never posted the full schedule for 2025. Just had last season’s stuff still up. Totally useless.
Checked the county sports league site next. Hit a paywall. Wanted me to pay just to see some game dates? No thanks. Local paper’s site? Zip. Nada.
Taking Matters Into My Own Hands
Got seriously impatient. Decided to start compiling it myself. Here’s what sucked hard:
- Clicked everywhere: Poked around different schools’ sites Hanover might play. Found bits and pieces – like a random mention of a May game against Easton.
- Scrolled old posts: Dug through comments on the school’s social media. Found one parent mention “opener vs. Kingston 4/5/25” – scribbled that down fast.
- Guessed the rest: Saw patterns from last year’s schedule. Figured out home games usually Tuesdays & Fridays. Assumed non-league games would probably land on Saturdays again.
Marking That Calendar
Once I had most dates mapped (still missing two away games), I grabbed our big wall calendar. The kitchen one covered in dentist appointments and birthdays.
Wrote every single date in pencil. Why pencil? Cause school schedules change like the weather! Also circled every home game in blue and away games in red. Made the playoff window early June as a big red star – gotta dream big.
Took my printout draft, scribbled “TENTATIVE – BASED ON RESEARCH & GUESSING” at the top in huge letters, and pinned it next to the fridge. Done. Sort of.
Why I Bothered
Honestly? Getting vacation days approved early from work. Plus coordinating with other sports schedules. And honestly, just knowing I wouldn’t suddenly discover, “Oh crap, big game was yesterday!” halfway through next April. Figured if I’m this desperate for these dates, other parents gotta be too. So there it is – my messy but practical fix.
