So last week my nephew visits and he’s all hyped up about New Mexico baseball. Says we gotta catch a game in 2025 season. I’m like sure kid, but lemme figure this out first.
The First Try Was a Mess
Started digging around Google searching “New Mexico baseball 2025 home games”. Bam – tons of shady ticket reseller sites pop up first. Felt like walking into a scammer convention. One site showed “discounted tickets” but slapped on $40 “convenience fees” per ticket. Yeah right, convenient my foot.
Official Site Detective Work
Remembered the team’s actual website. Took three tries typing variations of “New Mexico Lobos official athletics” before landing there. Had to:
- Scroll past basketball news dominating the page
- Find the tiny “Schedules” tab buried under sponsorships
- Filter from dropdown menus selecting “Baseball” and “2025”
Honestly felt like solving a puzzle. Finally saw the full home schedule: February 14 opener against Nevada, May conference games – all laid out.
The Ticket Buying Circus
Clicked “Buy Tickets” expecting smooth sailing. Hah! Ticket portal asked for five different things:
- Team site login (which I forgot)
- Email verification code that took forever
- Credit card info TWICE because page timed out
- Seat selection map that loaded slower than dial-up
Got stuck on seat selection for 20 minutes – kept throwing errors when picking aisle seats. Almost threw my coffee at the screen. Finally grabbed four upper deck tickets for the June game against San Diego State.
Aftermath
Got confirmation email instantly… in my spam folder. Of course. Print-at-home tickets looked so generic I double-checked the website again. Whole circus took me 2 hours 15 minutes. My nephew better appreciate this when we’re baking in those bleachers next summer.
