Alright, so I dove headfirst into my 2024 fantasy football draft prep. Let me tell you, it’s a whole different beast this year!

Getting Started
First, I gathered all my league info. You know, the basics: scoring settings (PPR, standard, half-PPR), roster size, and the all-important draft order. This year, we’re doing a 12-team PPR league with a snake draft. I drew the 7th pick… not ideal, but hey, it’s better than 12th!
Research, Research, Research
Next, I spent hours, and I mean hours, digesting everything I could find. I looked at all the big sites and any other information I can find on internet. I’m talking player rankings, mock drafts, injury reports, depth charts, you name it. I even listened to a few podcasts while I was doing chores – gotta multitask, right?
Here’s a little breakdown of what I focused on:
- Identifying Sleepers: Everyone knows the top guys, but finding those mid-to-late round gems is where you win your league.
- Understanding ADP (Average Draft Position): This helps you gauge where players are likely to be drafted, so you don’t reach too early or miss out on someone.
- Looking at Bye Weeks: You don’t want all your star players on bye at the same time!
- Injury History: Some guys are just injury-prone, and you gotta factor that in.
Mock Drafts Galore
After all that research, I started doing mock drafts. Like, a LOT of them. Different platforms, different draft positions, just trying to get a feel for how things might play out. This helped me see which players were consistently available around my pick and develop some strategies.
My Strategy (So Far)
With the 7th pick in a PPR league, I’m thinking I’ll probably go with either a top-tier running back or a stud wide receiver, depending on who’s available. I’m also keeping a close eye on tight ends – having a dominant one can be a huge advantage.
In the later rounds, I’ll be targeting those high-upside sleepers and making sure I have a solid backup quarterback and some depth at each position.
Still Evolving
Of course, this is all just a starting point. I’ll keep refining my strategy as we get closer to the draft. Things change quickly in the NFL, so you gotta stay flexible! It’s a marathon, not a sprint, as they say. But man, I am pumped for this season!
