2024 NFL Fatnasty Points Against: Check the top team!

Alright, so I got sucked into this whole “fatnasty points” thing for the 2024 NFL season. I thought, “Hey, this could be fun, a different way to look at the game.” Boy, was I in for a ride.

Getting Started

First, I had to figure out what the heck “fatnasty points” even were. I did some digging around, you know, the usual internet rabbit holes. Turns out, it’s all about celebrating those big guys on the offensive and defensive lines – the unsung heroes, the guys in the trenches.

The Deep Dive

I started tracking everything. Every sack, every tackle for loss, every pancake block (which, let me tell you, finding reliable pancake block stats is a NIGHTMARE). I cobbled together spreadsheets, I watched way too much game film, and I probably annoyed my friends with endless talk about offensive line play.

I tried to Watch game to get detailed data, but there are too many games in the same time, I can not watch all games, that is crazy.

The Struggle

  • The Data Hunt: Seriously, finding consistent stats for some of this stuff was like pulling teeth. Some sites had one thing, others had something else. It was a mess.
  • The Time Suck: This took up SO much time. I mean, I love football, but this was next-level dedication (or maybe obsession?).
  • The Subjectivity: Some of this stuff is subjective, right? Like, what counts as a “dominant” block? It’s not always clear-cut.

Final try and giveup

I keep trying and trying, I want to use a simple way to finish it, I also think about some tools to help me, but no way, it need to be given up.

In the end, did I crack the code of fatnasty points? Not really. Did I have some fun and learn a ton about the intricacies of line play? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Maybe… but I might need a bigger spreadsheet and a lot more free *’s a really good idea but I can not do that by myself.
