Win Your League: Start with 2024 Fantasy Football Mock Drafts

Alright, so I finally dove into the 2024 fantasy football season prep. Yeah, I know, it’s early, but you gotta get a feel for things, right? I decided the best way to do that was by jumping into some mock drafts.

First, I logged into a platform, you know, just the standard ones. Then I found the mock draft lobby. Seemed like there was a bunch of people with the same idea as me.

Getting Started

I joined a 12-team, PPR (points per reception) mock draft. I like PPR because it gives more value to wide receivers and pass-catching running backs. I randomly got assigned the 5th pick. Not bad, not amazing, kinda in the middle.

The Draft

The first few rounds were pretty chalk. The usual suspects went early. I was really hoping one of the top-tier running backs would fall to me, but no such luck. At pick 5, I grabbed a stud wide receiver. I won’t say exactly who, but he is great man.

  • Round 1: Snagged a top WR. Felt good about that.
  • Rounds 2 & 3: Focused on grabbing the best available RB and another solid WR. Had to make some tough choices there, a few guys I liked got picked right before me!
  • Rounds 4-6: This is where things get interesting. Started looking at tight ends and quarterbacks, but the value just wasn’t there for me yet. Loaded up on more RBs and WRs with upside. You can never have too much depth.

In the middle rounds.I tried to find that balance. I wanted value, players I felt were being overlooked, but also with that high-floor, especially in PPR.

Later Rounds & Strategy

In the later rounds, it’s all about upside. I was drafting guys with potential, maybe rookies in good situations or players coming back from injury.

I also made sure to grab a kicker and defense, obviously. Don’t want to stream those every week.

Post-Draft Thoughts

After the draft finished, I took a look at my team. I definitely felt better about some positions than others. I was pleased with my WRs and RBs, but not to thrilled with other positions. But hey, it’s a mock draft! It’s all about learning and adjusting.

The biggest thing I learned was how players’ Average Draft Positions (ADPs) are shaking out. I saw some guys going much earlier than I expected, and others falling way too far. This is super valuable info that I’ll definitely use in my real drafts. I made some mental notes about players to target and players to avoid at certain rounds.

Overall, it was a useful experience. I recommend everyone do at least a few mock drafts before their real ones. It really helps you get a feel for the player pool and develop a strategy. Now, back to the grind… gotta do some more research!
