Alright, so, fantasy football, right? Every year, I’m like, “This is MY year!” And every year, I end up pulling my hair out trying to figure out who to start. This season, I decided to actually, you know, think about it. Not just go with my gut, which, let’s be honest, is usually wrong.

First thing I did? I dug into the stats. Yeah, sounds boring, but it’s kinda necessary. I didn’t go crazy, though. No spreadsheets or anything. I just looked at the basics:
- Last year’s performance: Who were the top dogs? Who kinda flopped?
- Off-season changes: Did anyone get traded to a better (or worse) team? Any big injuries?
- Matchups:This is key who are playing easy or hard team this week?
Getting My Hands Dirty
I started by listing out all my players. Sounds obvious, but seeing them all in front of me helped. Then, I categorized them. You know, “Studs,” “Reliable Starters,” “Question Marks,” and “Don’t Even Think About It.”
Next, I compared my “Reliable Starters” and “Question Marks”. I looked at those matchups again. Like, if my so-so running back is playing a team with a terrible run defense, he might get bumped up to a starter.
And you must considering players’ recent form.
A player might have been great last season, but if they’ve been stinking it up for the past few weeks, I was be cautious.
Finally, I took one last look to my team before the games started.
I’m happy with who I selected.
And I made my final decisions. Set my lineup, and crossed my fingers.
It’s not rocket science, but it’s definitely more than I used to do. Will it work? Who knows! But at least I feel like I put some actual thought into it this time. And hey, that’s gotta count for something, right?
