Alright, folks, so the other day I was diving deep into some NFL stats, trying to figure out which receivers were butterfingers and which ones had glue for hands. Specifically, I wanted to find some reliable drop stats for NFL receivers. Here’s how I went about it:
The Initial Google Search
First things first, I fired up Google. I tried a few different searches like “NFL receiver drop stats,” “wide receiver drop rate,” and “NFL dropped passes data.” I figured I’d start broad and narrow it down if needed. This gave me a bunch of articles and forum discussions, but nothing concrete with the actual data I was craving.
Digging into Sports Websites
Next, I thought, “Okay, let’s go to the source.” I hit up some of the big sports websites. These sites are great, and I often find a lot of cool stats there, but I was striking out on detailed drop stats. I could find receiving yards, touchdowns, receptions… but not the nitty-gritty drop numbers I was after.
Finding the Data Goldmine
Then I remembered about those dedicated stats sites. I can’t remember the name, so I searched for it. I started poking around, and BINGO! I found a section specifically for “Advanced Receiving Stats”.
Narrowing Down the Search
Once I was on the right page, it was all about filtering. I wanted to make sure I could see stats by season, and ideally, I wanted to be able to filter by player and team. Luckily, the site had all those options. I could select the year, look at individual players, and even compare different receivers.
Exporting and Analyzing (My Favorite Part)
Now, here’s where it gets really fun for a data nerd like me. The site let me export the data as a CSV file! I love working with spreadsheets. This made it super easy to sort the data, create my own calculations (like drop rate percentage), and really dig into the numbers.
So by finding the site, using the right filters,and then exporting, I can now check and find those data easily.
