Oh, let me tell ya ’bout the St. Joe’s Prep football team this 2023 season! Now, if ya don’t know St. Joe’s Prep, well, they’re somethin’ special, I’ll tell ya that. This year, them boys been workin’ hard, tryin’ to make it all the way to the state championship. They’re part of that big ol’ 6A class in Pennsylvania high school football, which, if ya ask me, is just about as tough as it gets for high school kids. That 6A class is like the big leagues for high school, and these St. Joe’s Prep boys been givin’ it their all.

Now, let’s talk about the season – this season’s been packed with action! Them boys kicked things off early, like August early. First up, they had a scrimmage against St. John’s College from DC, just to get warmed up, ya know. And then the real games started. Now, these weren’t no easy games; they been goin’ up against teams like IMG Academy from down in Florida. Let me tell ya, those IMG boys are serious business – all the way from down south, comin’ up to face St. Joe’s, and our boys were ready for the fight!
Throughout the season, they faced tough competition. They had to travel all over, even goin’ up to Rutgers University for a non-league game, and they won that one with a big ol’ score, somethin’ like 55-20! Ain’t that somethin’? Goin’ outta state and bringin’ home a big win, that’s how ya know these boys got heart.
The Coach and Team
Now, every good team’s got a leader, right? St. Joe’s got Coach Tim Roken leadin’ the pack this season. And lemme tell ya, he knows how to whip these boys into shape. Coach Roken’s been with ’em for a while, so he knows what works. And ya can tell, he’s got ’em workin’ hard, pushin’ ’em to be their best.
The team’s got some real standout players too. I don’t know if ya heard of these boys, but there’s Cameron J. Smith, Nikhilesh Mehta, Brandon Ross, and Omillio Agard. Now these boys been puttin’ in work on the field, makin’ big plays, and helpin’ keep St. Joe’s on top. Just real talented young men, givin’ it their all, game after game.
Game Schedule and Results
Now, let me break down their schedule this year, so ya get a feel of just how busy these boys been. They kicked things off back in August, like I said, with that scrimmage. And come the end of August, they were already playin’ IMG Academy at home. From then on, it was game after game – they even had games on Friday nights, under them big stadium lights. Ain’t nothin’ like high school football on a Friday night, I tell ya!
As they moved through the season, they stacked up them wins. By the time they were headin’ into November, St. Joe’s Prep had a record of 13-1. Thirteen wins and just one little ol’ loss! That’s what I call a good season. And this set ’em up real nice for that big ol’ Pennsylvania (PIAA) 6A State Championship.
The Big Championship
Ah, and now we get to the big one – the state championship game! This here game was held on a Saturday night, a big ol’ matchup that folks been talkin’ ’bout all year. They went head-to-head with North Allegheny, another tough team from Pennsylvania, and boy, was it a showdown! Fans from all around came to watch; people were on the edge of their seats, cheerin’ on their boys, hoping St. Joe’s would bring home that trophy.
Future for the Hawks
Well, I tell ya, with the way things been goin’, the future’s lookin’ real bright for St. Joe’s Prep football. These boys done made a name for themselves this season, and there’s no doubt they’ll be back stronger next year. Coach Roken and these young players got a lot to look forward to, and I reckon we’ll be hearin’ a lot more about ’em. They’re gonna keep workin’, trainin’, and goin’ after them big wins.
So, that’s the story of St. Joe’s Prep football 2023. These boys went out there and showed everyone what hard work looks like. Whether they won or lost that final game, they made their school proud, and that’s what counts most. Ain’t nothin’ better than seein’ young folks work hard and make somethin’ of themselves, now is there?
