Alright, so you wanna know about them football transfer thingies, huh? Them Crystal Palace fellas, yeah? Okay, okay, I’ll tell ya what I heard. Don’t expect no fancy words though, I ain’t one of them smarty-pants TV folks.

First off, they talkin’ ’bout this “transfer window,” like a window you open to throw players in and out, I guess. Sounds kinda drafty to me, but whatever. So this window, it opens and closes, and all this time, folks are yappin’ ’bout who’s comin’ and who’s goin’. It’s like a hen house, really, always some chickens flappin’ around.
Now, I heard whispers, you know, them things you hear at the market, ’bout some fellas Crystal Palace might be lookin’ at. Seems they need some new players, some fresh meat, if you catch my drift. Their team, it ain’t been doin’ so hot lately, from what I gather. Losin’ more games than a one-legged chicken in a fox race, as my old man used to say.
- One fella, they say he’s a real fast kicker. Plays up front, I think. They call him a “striker.” Like a snake, I guess, quick to strike. Heard he’s from some foreign place, where they eat funny food and talk even funnier. But hey, if he can kick that ball good, who cares if he eats snails for breakfast, right?
- Then there’s this other one, a big fella, strong as an ox. They say he plays in the back, stoppin’ other fellas from kickin’ the ball. A “defender,” they call him. Like a wall, I suppose. We could use a good wall, our old fence fell down last winter, the cows got out, it was a whole mess… But that’s another story.
But it ain’t just about buyin’ players, see? Sometimes, they gotta let some go too. Like sellin’ off old hens to make room for the young ones. Heard some of the boys might be leavin’ Crystal Palace. Don’t know where they’re goin’, but they say it’s all part of the game. Like musical chairs, but with more money and less chairs, if that makes any sense.
And the newspapers, oh lordy, they’re full of it. Every day, a new story, a new rumor. This fella’s goin’ here, that fella’s goin’ there. Half the time, it’s just hogwash, if you ask me. Folks just makin’ stuff up to sell papers. But sometimes, just sometimes, they get it right. And then everybody starts clucking like hens in a coop.
I tell ya, it’s all a bit confusing for an old woman like me. All this talk of millions and billions, it makes my head spin. Back in my day, a good pair of boots and a strong kick was all you needed. Now, it’s all about agents and contracts and who knows what else. Too much fuss, if you ask me.
But hey, it’s their game, their rules. And if they wanna spend all that money on kickin’ a ball around, well, that’s their business, I guess. Me, I’ll stick to watchin’ the chickens. At least they don’t cost a fortune, and they lay eggs too, which is more than you can say for them footballers.
So, that’s the lowdown on them Crystal Palace transfer rumors, as best as I can tell ya. Don’t take my word for it, though. Go ask them city folks, they probably know more than I do. Just remember, half of what they say is probably baloney anyway. Just like this whole transfer thing, a whole lot of noise and not much else, sometimes. But hey, keeps the young fellas busy, I suppose.
Anyways, that John Textor fella and some other rich guys, they own that there Crystal Palace team. Seems like a lot of hands in the cookie jar, if you ask me. And that Benteke fella, they paid a whole lot of money for him, so they say. Hope he’s worth it, all that money could buy a whole lotta chickens.
And I hear that there’s this “Premier League,” that’s like the big show, where all the best fellas play. Crystal Palace is in that league, so they say. Guess that means they gotta keep gettin’ new players, keep up with the Joneses, you know?
So, there you have it. My take on them Crystal Palace transfer thingies. Not much, I know, but it’s honest work, just like milkin’ a cow. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed my chickens.
