Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this thing called “Rotisserie Baseball Auction Values” for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. At first, I was like, “What the heck is this?” It sounded way too complicated.

But, I decided to give it a shot. I started by reading up on it. Basically, you get a fake budget and you bid on players, just like a real auction. Sounds fun, right?
So, I got my feet wet. I joined this mock auction with some buddies online. First thing I did was set a budget for each player position. I mean, you gotta have a plan, or you’ll just blow all your cash on the first big name that comes up. I decided to go heavy on hitting, figuring I could skimp a little on pitching.
- Started with a rough budget for each position.
- Decided to spend more on hitters than pitchers.
- Made a list of my target players.
Then, the auction started. It was crazy! People were throwing out numbers left and right. I tried to stay disciplined, sticking to my budget. I managed to snag a couple of my top guys, but man, it was tough. There were a few times I got into a bidding war and almost blew it.
I ended up getting outbid on some players I really wanted, which was a bummer. But, I also snagged some steals – guys who I think were undervalued. In the end, I felt like my team is okay. I also did an analysis about what to do if I could start over, but I think next year, I can probably build a better team.
What I Learned
After it was all over, I took a step back and thought about what I learned. Here’s the deal:
- Don’t get caught up in the moment. Stick to your plan!
- Be flexible. Sometimes you gotta adjust on the fly.
- It is important to know the players. Gotta do your homework!
It was a real learning experience. I definitely made some mistakes, but I also had some successes. I’m actually kind of excited to try it again next year, see if I can do better. This whole “Rotisserie Baseball Auction Values” thing? It’s definitely a challenge, but it’s also a lot of fun.
