Well, you see, I been watchin’ those retired football player commercial things on the TV. Lots of big, strong fellas, used to playin’ football, now they’re in commercials. Makes a body think, you know? They ain’t runnin’ around on the field no more, but they’re still doin’ somethin’.
One fella I seen, he was in a commercial for them Frito-Lay chips. Big fella, used to play for the NFL. They call it the National Football League, you know. Big deal. He was in a retired football player commercial. He was eatin’ them chips and lookin’ all happy. Ain’t that somethin’? Used to be all rough and tumble, now he’s just munchin’ on chips.
- That one fella, Rob Gronkowski, they call him. He’s a big one.
- Then there’s Marshawn Lynch. Heard he went back to playin’ after he said he was done.
- And Troy Polamalu. My oh my, he used to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a safety.
They are in these retired football player commercial all the time. It’s all about unretirement, whatever that means. They got off the couch, the commercial said. Back to football, like some kinda chips thing. That’s what the commercial was about, this whole unretirement thing.
Then there’s that other retired football player commercial with, uh, Tom Brady, I think his name is? And Julian Edelman. And some fella named Dan Marino and a Josh Allen, I think. They was all in it, too. Seems like all these retired football players are doin’ these commercials now.
Another one I saw, some fella named Randy Moss, he was in a Pepsi commercial. Yep, Pepsi. The soda pop. He was a big football star too, I reckon. Now he’s sellin’ soda. Life’s funny, ain’t it? One day you’re a big football star, the next you’re in a retired football player commercial.
And these fellas, they ain’t just in any old commercials. They’re in the big ones. The ones for the chips and the soda and all that. They must be makin’ good money, I bet. It’s good to see these retired football player commercial. They ain’t just sittin’ around doin’ nothin’.
I remember seein’ some other names too in those retired football player commercial. Alex Karras, I think. And Carl Weathers. And Terry Bradshaw, he’s always on the TV talkin’ about football. Jim Brown, too. Chester Rogers and Bubba Smith. John David Washington. They all went to actin’ after football. These retired football player commercial are somethin’ else.
You know, it’s interestin’ to see these retired football players in commercials. They used to be so famous for playin’ football. Now they famous for bein’ in commercials. It’s like a whole new life for ’em. And they seem to be doin’ alright for themselves, too. These retired football player commercial, they all happy and smilin’ and eatin’ chips or drinkin’ soda.
I reckon it’s good they got somethin’ to do after football. Can’t play forever, you know. Gotta do somethin’ with your life. And these retired football player commercial are a good way to do it, I suppose. They still get to be on TV and make some money. And folks like me get to see ’em, so I guess it’s a win-win, as they say.
You know that Troy Polamalu, he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers for 12 years. That’s a long time to be playin’ football. And Marshawn Lynch, he played for 13 years. These boys sure did love their football. Now they in these retired football player commercial, and they still look like they havin’ fun. Good for them.
So, yeah, I been seein’ a lot of these retired football player commercial lately. It’s kinda nice, you know? Makes you think that even when you’re done with one thing, there’s always somethin’ else you can do. Just gotta keep on keepin’ on, I guess. And maybe eat some chips or drink some soda along the way. Who knows?
