Okay, so today I decided to dive into something I’ve been meaning to try for a while: an NFL mock draft for fantasy football. I’m a huge football fan, and fantasy football is always a blast, but I’ve never actually done a mock draft before. Figured it was time to change that!

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find a place to do the mock draft. I searched around a bit and found some app, I entered a free mock draft lobby, standard settings, PPR (points per reception) scoring, 12 teams. Nothing too crazy.
The Draft
My draft position was 5th, I was kinda hoping for a top 3 pick, but 5th is decent enough. I figured I had a good shot at a solid running back or maybe a top-tier wide receiver.
- Round 1: The first four picks went as expected, some top running backs. When my turn came, I snagged a top WR.
- Round 2: I was thinking RB, and that is exactly what I did.
- Rounds 3-6:Here’s were I tried to build up some quality depth. I grabbed a top TE, another WR, and a QB.
- Later Rounds :I focused on high-upside players and some handcuffs (backup running backs who would become starters if the main guy got injured).
My Roster
Ended up with the following.
- QB:a good QB.
- RBs:a good RB and a good RB.
- WRs:a good WR, a good WR, and a good WR.
- TE: a good TE.
- Flex: a good RB/WR.
- Kicker & Defense: Drafted these last, as always. Never reach for a kicker or defense!
- Bench: Filled with a mix of RBs and WRs, hoping one or two of them break out during the season.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m pretty happy with how my team turned out, I think. It was definitely a learning experience, and I can see how doing multiple mock drafts would really help you get a feel for player values and different draft strategies. For example, It made me be prepared for the different scenarios.
It was fun, I might try a few more mock drafts before the actual fantasy season starts. You know, just to “practice” some more… and maybe win some bragging rights among my friends.
