Lowest NFL score ever: Find out which game had almost no points on the board, you wont believe it!

Okay, so, I was messing around the other day trying to figure out what the lowest NFL score ever was. It’s kind of a weird thing to look up, but I was curious, you know?

Lowest NFL score ever: Find out which game had almost no points on the board, you wont believe it!

First, I started by just searching for the lowest scoring game ever. I quickly found out that it was a game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Miami Dolphins in 2007 that ended 3-0. Wow, only 3 points in the whole game! Can you believe that?

Digging into History

I found an old game between the Akron Pros and the Buffalo Rangers on November 29th (no year specified, which was a bit frustrating) that was also super low-scoring. Then I stumbled upon something interesting.

There was some info about the fewest points scored per game by a team in a season since the NFL and AFL merged in 1970. Turns out, it’s just three points. And there were seven games with that score! The most recent one was in 2023 between the Vikings and Raiders. I didn’t see that game, but it must have been a real nail-biter… or maybe a real snooze-fest, depending on how you look at it.

Even More Details

I also found out that since 1944, the Brooklyn Tigers had the lowest points per game in a season, with just 6.9 points per game. Yikes! That’s tough.

And get this – the last 0-0 tie in the NFL was way back in 1943, between the New York Giants and the Detroit Lions. They only had nine first downs and 214 total yards between them. Can you imagine a game with no score at all?

Oh, and the Dallas Cowboys once won a playoff game with only 5 points in 1970. Talk about a defensive battle!

So yeah, that’s what I found out about the lowest NFL scores ever. It was a fun little research project, even though it was a bit of a rabbit hole! It’s pretty wild to think about how different these games must have been compared to the high-scoring games we often see today. I learned a lot, and I thought it would be cool to share my little adventure with you all.

This made me think that football games can be really unpredictable. That’s all I found. See you next time!
