Alright, let’s talk about this young fella, Jamal George. Sounds like a good strong name, reminds me of my oldest grandson, always into somethin’ or other. This Jamal, he plays baseball, you know, the game with the stick and the ball? Yeah, that one. He’s a catcher and a shortstop, which means he’s gotta be quick on his feet and have good strong hands. I tell ya, catchin’ those balls ain’t easy, they come at ya fast! And shortstop, well, you gotta be everywhere at once.

Jamal George: A Young Fella with a Bat and a Glove
Now, they say he bats both ways, lefty and righty, I reckon. That’s pretty handy, makes it harder for them pitchers to figure him out. Throws with his right hand though. He’s a good size, 5 foot 11, they say, and weighs about 185 pounds. Born in 2003, so he’s just a young whippersnapper. San Juan, that’s where he’s from. Don’t know much about that place, but I hear it’s warm, probably good for playin’ ball year-round.
- Catcher and Shortstop: Plays two important positions.
- Bats Both Ways: A switch hitter, makes him tricky for pitchers.
- Strong Arm: Throws right-handed.
- Good Size: 5-11 and 185 pounds.
This boy, he’s been movin’ around, playin’ for different teams. Heard he played for Alabama State, somethin’ called the “Aggies,” and even Rice. Sounds like he’s been gettin’ around, tryin’ to find the best place for himself. Kind of like when my chickens get loose, always peckin’ around for the best feed. He even got himself an award, “Freshman of the Year” they called it, and got on some all-star team too. See, that’s what happens when you work hard and play good. People notice, they appreciate it. He even played in somethin’ called the Summer League Tour, played all over the place, even center field! This boy ain’t afraid of nothin’.
They got all sorts of stats on him, numbers and such. Batting average, RBIs, all that fancy stuff. I don’t pay too much attention to that, long as he’s hittin’ the ball and helpin’ his team, that’s all that matters to me. It’s like bakin’ a pie, you don’t need to know all the scientific stuff, just gotta know how to make it taste good.
Baseball is Baseball, No Matter Where You Play
They talk about the MLB, minor leagues, college ball, summer leagues… sounds like a whole lot of leagues to me! It’s all baseball, ain’t it? Throw the ball, hit the ball, catch the ball. That’s what it boils down to. This Jamal, he seems like a good kid, workin’ hard, chasin’ his dream. Reminds me of when my husband used to work the farm, sunup to sundown, always tryin’ to make a better life for us. He’s got a future in this baseball thing, I reckon. As long as he keeps his head on straight and keeps swingin’ that bat, he’ll do just fine.
Now, they also mention things like rule changes, probable pitchers, starting lineups, transactions, injury reports… all that newsy stuff. That’s important too, I guess, keeps everyone informed. But for me, it’s all about watchin’ the game, seein’ the players run and hit and catch. It’s excitin’, you know? Like when the church choir sings a good hymn, gets your heart pumpin’.
So, there you have it, a little somethin’ about Jamal George. A young baseball player with a lot of potential. He’s got the skills, he’s got the drive, and he’s got the experience. I’m rootin’ for him, hope he makes it big. It’s always good to see a young person doin’ well, makin’ somethin’ of themselves. Just like my grandkids, makes me proud as punch.
And remember, whether it’s baseball or bakin’ pies, the important thing is to put your heart into it and give it your best shot. That’s what life’s all about, ain’t it?
