Is the lowest paid quarterback in nfl getting a fair deal?

Okay, so I was trying to figure out who’s the quarterback in the NFL making the least amount of money. It’s not like I have a ton of time on my hands, but I was just curious, you know?

Is the lowest paid quarterback in nfl getting a fair deal?

I started by just doing a simple search online. I typed in something like, “lowest paid quarterback in the NFL.” I got a bunch of results, obviously, but one name kept coming up: Brock Purdy.

  • Checked out a few different articles, and they were all saying the same thing.
  • He’s the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, but he’s getting paid way less than other starting QBs in the league.
  • And it’s not just other starters, I found the minimum salary for any player.

I dug a little deeper to find out the specifics of his contract. Apparently, he signed a four-year deal with the 49ers, and the total amount of the contract was around $3.7 million. The interesting thing is that his base salary for the 2024 season is only about $795,000. And the minimum salary for an NFL player is $705,000 in 2022, so Purdy is making almost the minimum! I learned that the minimum is increasing, so next year is $870,000.

Then I started looking at what other quarterbacks are making. That’s when things got really crazy. I saw that Dak Prescott from the Dallas Cowboys is making something like $60 million a year! I mean, that’s a huge difference compared to what Purdy is making. And some articles were saying Purdy is going to make only $1.1 million in 2025. It’s unbelievable!

I found another quarterback, Sam Howell. He is the quarterback of the Commanders, and is making a little more than Purdy, but not much.

So, yeah, that’s basically what I found out. It’s pretty wild to think about how much the salaries can vary in the NFL. I just thought it was interesting, so I figured I’d share my little research project with you all.
