Alright, let’s talk about this Mark Jackson basketball card, you know, the one with them Menendez brothers on it. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I heard folks talkin’ and I seen some things on the TV, so I’ll tell ya what I know.
First off, these basketball cards, they been around a long time. Way back when, they had black and white pictures, just like them old family photos you got stashed away in a box somewhere. Apparently, them old cards, they’re worth a pretty penny now. Folks are payin’ good money for ‘em! Imagine that, something you coulda tossed in the trash is now worth more than your old mule!
Then, sometime in the 40s, some gum company, Bowman I think they called ‘em, they started makin’ basketball cards too. That’s when things really took off, I reckon. Everybody wanted them cards, just like kids these days want them fancy phones. And they even had cards with colleges on ‘em, ain’t that somethin’? Like a picture of where your grandson went to school, but on a little card.
Now, this Mark Jackson fella, he was a basketball player, a pretty good one, but not like Michael Jordan or nothin’. He’s got his own cards, and them rookie cards, the ones from when he first started, they’re worth somethin’ too. Heard tell they can go for a hundred bucks or more if they’re in good shape, all shiny and new lookin’. That’s a lot of money for a little piece of cardboard, if you ask me.
But the real interesting thing is this card with Mark Jackson and them Menendez brothers. Now, them brothers, they were… well, let’s just say they got into some trouble. Big trouble. I ain’t gonna gossip, but it was all over the news. So, somebody, I don’t know who, made a card with Mark Jackson and them brothers on it. It’s a strange thing, ain’t it? Like puttin’ a picture of the preacher next to the town drunk!
- It’s a limited edition card, that means they didn’t make a whole bunch of ‘em.
- And because of who’s on it, and that whole trouble they got into, it’s become kinda famous, or infamous, I guess you could say.
Now, how much is it worth? That’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? Well, I heard tell it could be worth anywhere from fifty to a hundred dollars, maybe more if it’s in real good shape. But then, there’s this new TV show, on that Netflix thing, about them brothers. And wouldn’t you know it, that show made the card even more valuable! I heard someone paid six hundred dollars for one! Can you believe that? Six hundred dollars for a little card!
See, the thing is, these cards, they ain’t makin’ ‘em anymore. So, the longer you hold onto it, the more it might be worth. It’s like them old quilts your grandma made, they get more valuable as time goes on. But, just like them quilts, if you leave it out in the sun or let the mice get to it, it ain’t gonna be worth nothin’. You gotta take care of it, keep it safe.
So, if you got one of these Mark Jackson Menendez Brothers cards, hold onto it tight. Might be worth somethin’ someday. And if you don’t have one, well, maybe you can find one at a flea market or somethin’. But be careful, don’t go spendin’ your life savings on it. It’s just a card, after all. But it’s a card with a story, and sometimes, them stories are worth more than all the money in the world. Or at least, that’s what I reckon.
