Now, I don’t know much about them fancy ball games folks play, but there’s this one called fva basketball, and I’ve heard a lot about it. You see, the Fox Valley Association, or FVA for short, is where the best of the best come to show what they can do with a basketball. It’s like the big leagues around here, at least for the young ones.

Folks say the FVA basketball is tough, and I believe ’em. It’s got all them high schools like Oshkosh West, Neenah, and Fond du Lac, just to name a few. I reckon it’s where all the young bucks get their chance to shine, but let me tell ya, the competition’s fierce. I was sittin’ at the local diner the other day, and I heard folks talkin’ about them players, like Taylin Heiman, who’s been runnin’ the court like she owns it. That girl don’t just play basketball; she’s also out there doin’ cross country and soccer. You can bet she don’t slow down for nothin’.
Now, the FVA basketball ain’t all just runnin’ and shootin’. There’s a lot of heart in it. You got teams like Neenah Rockets, and I gotta say, they really do put on a show. I remember back in the day, they was the champs in 2013-14. Ain’t that somethin’? Them boys knew how to handle the ball like nobody’s business. They been on fire ever since, with folks talkin’ about ’em all over the place. Even the news folks got ’em on the radar now, so that’s tellin’ you somethin’.
But hey, it ain’t just about winning, it’s about the love of the game, right? I see a lot of them young players, working hard, running up and down that court like there’s no tomorrow. You got kids like Jared Schultz, who got a special mention at the 2024 WBCA Fall Basketball Showcase. That’s a big deal, let me tell ya. If you don’t think that’s impressive, I don’t know what is.
And don’t get me started on Fond du Lac. They got themselves a big win, clinchin’ a share of the conference title. First time they done it since back in 2000-01. That’s when they split the title with Oshkosh West. It just goes to show, no matter how long it’s been, these teams keep comin’ back and puttin’ up a fight. They ain’t takin’ no days off.
Now, if you think all this basketball talk is just for the young folks, think again. Them coaches, the folks in the stands, and even the players’ families, they all get wrapped up in it. It’s like a big ol’ family get-together, only everybody’s cheerin’ for their favorite team. Some folks even travel miles just to see the game. Ain’t that somethin’?
So, when folks start talkin’ ’bout FVA basketball, don’t go thinkin’ it’s just some little high school game. No sir, it’s a big deal. You got talent, hard work, and some real community pride on display. And next time you hear someone sayin’ somethin’ about the FVA, you just might want to sit a spell and listen. Ain’t no tellin’ what kind of players you’ll hear about next!
