Well, let me tell ya ’bout this young fella, Ethan Lin, and his basketball thing. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just seen a game or two in my time. But this boy, he’s somethin’ else. Folks keep talkin’ about him, so I figured I’d try and piece together what I heard. He plays this basketball, you know, that game with the orange ball and the tall fellas runnin’ around?

Seems like there’s more than one Ethan Lin playin’ basketball. That’s what confuses me at first. But this one we’re talkin’ about, some folks say he’s in high school. Some say he’s from Montgomery, others talkin’ about Berthoud. And then there’s talk of Sweden! Lord have mercy, this boy gets around, or maybe there are just a bunch of ‘em. Makes my head spin, all these places and names. I reckon he’s a young’un, though, some say he’s class of 2026, others say 2024. Means he’s still got a lot of growin’ to do, just like my prize-winning tomatoes.
- He’s good at shootin’ the ball, they call him a Guard. That means he’s supposed to be good at dribblin’ and passin’ too, I guess.
- He plays for some school teams, and maybe even for Sweden, somethin’ called FIBA U16. Don’t ask me what that is, sounds fancy though.
- People are watchin’ him, they say he’s a “prospect”, which means he might be real good someday, maybe even play on TV.
Now, they got these videos of him, on somethin’ called “Hudl.” I ain’t seen ’em myself, don’t know how to use them newfangled gadgets. But folks say he’s got “highlights,” meaning he does good stuff on the court. Fast moves, fancy passes, shots that go swish. They even got this website, somethin’ called Jersey Sports Zone, showin’ off high school players. He must be somethin’ special if they are makin’ videos of him.
They say he’s a smart fella too, “high academic” they call it. Means he’s good at book learnin’, not just basketball. That’s good, ‘cause you never know when an injury might end your career and then what do ya have to fall back on? His mama must be proud. Reminds me of my grandson, always got his nose in a book. This Ethan fella, he’s gettin’ better all the time, they say. Just like a good ol’ stew, the longer it simmers, the better it tastes. They even got stats on him, numbers and such, showin’ how good he is. I don’t understand all that mumbo jumbo, but it sounds important.
There’s a lot of information out there, makes it hard for an old woman like me to keep up. But one thing’s for sure, this Ethan Lin is makin’ a name for himself in basketball. He’s playin’ hard, gettin’ better, and folks are takin’ notice. Whether he’s in Montgomery, Berthoud, or Sweden, he’s a basketball player to watch. Just like watchin’ my chickens grow, it’s excitin’ to see what he’ll become. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits.
This internet thing is something else though. They got all these websites with “player profiles” and “team profiles”. More players and teams than I got chickens in my coop, I tell ya! They even got live videos, so you can watch the games right then and there. Lord, I wish they had this when my kids were young, would’ve saved me a trip or two to the school gym. And this boy, Ethan, he’s got his own “profile” on these sites, with all his information and stats. He’s famous, I reckon, at least in the basketball world.
They say he’s a “mid-major prospect” whatever that means, sound like he’s aiming high though, good for him. He’s still young, though, just a sophomore in some places. Got a long way to go before he’s a real star, just like my apple tree needs a few more years to bear fruit. But people are excited, that’s for sure. They’re talkin’ about him on Facebook and Twitter, all them social media things my grandkids keep blabberin’ about. He even got pictures and news articles written about him. Makes me think about that time the local paper wrote about my prize-winning pumpkin, feels good to get that kind of attention.
So, that’s the story of Ethan Lin, as far as I can tell. A young fella, playin’ basketball, and makin’ a name for himself. He’s got the talent, the brains, and the drive. Just like my prize-winning zucchini, he’s got the potential to be something special. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. But I’m bettin’ he’ll do just fine. Now, where did I put my glasses?
