Well, let me tell ya, this Owatonna football team, they’re somethin’ else, ya know? Ain’t no small deal over here. Every Friday night when the Owatonna Huskies hit the field, folks gather up like it’s some kinda big holiday. They all come out, young and old, rain or shine, just ta cheer them boys on. This year, lemme tell ya, they went unbeaten through the Northstar South Maroon District! That’s right, undefeated – and that makes ‘em top dog, the #1 seed in the Section 1AAAAA playoffs. Can ya believe it?
Now, this Friday, November 3rd, 2023, it’s gonna be a big one. They’ll be playin’ in the playoffs, and let me tell ya, it ain’t no joke. I reckon everyone in Owatonna’s gonna be there, rootin’ and hollerin’! These boys, they worked hard all season, went up against all them other teams, and they showed everyone what they got. Owatonna’s proud of their Huskies, and folks are talkin’ all over town about how they’re ready to watch their boys give it their all.
Now, let’s talk a bit about the games this season, huh? Here’s a quick rundown for ya:
- September 2nd: Played against Rochester Mayo, and boy, it was a close one, but they lost 27-34. It was held right here at Huskies Stadium, and the folks were cheerin’ till the last second!
- September 9th: Now this one, they came back strong, beatin’ the team with a clear 24-0. That’s how ya make a statement, I tell ya!
- Rest of the Season: Oh, they kept on goin’, winning game after game, till they finished the season without another loss in the district. Now that’s a big deal, I’m tellin’ ya, and that’s why they’re goin’ into the playoffs as the top seed.
And now, with this here game comin’ up, folks are expectin’ a big show. There’s gonna be cheers, yells, and probably some nail-bitin’ moments too. But win or lose, the Owatonna Huskies sure made their hometown proud this year. Heck, these boys got their hearts in it, and it shows. They got people talkin’ all over town, sayin’, “Them Huskies is gonna take it all this year.” Well, we’ll see!
Oh, and ya gotta give credit to the school and coaches too. Owatonna Senior High’s part of the Minnesota State High School League and the Big Nine conference. They got a lotta folks supportin’ them from all over, and the coaches, they’ve been workin’ hard with them boys, teachin’ them not just ta play, but ta play with pride. And, don’t forget, they got a Hall of Fame too, where they honor some of the best folks who came through. Now, that’s somethin’ special, keepin’ that kinda history alive!
So, what’s next for the Huskies? Well, this here Friday, they’re gonna play their hearts out. Win or lose, Owatonna folks are standin’ behind them. If ya never been ta a game, now’s the time ta go. Nothin’ beats the sound of the crowd, the crackle of the field, and seein’ them young boys fightin’ with everythin’ they got. Who knows, maybe they’ll make it all the way this year!
