Hey everyone, I wanna talk about a fun little project I dug into recently. The topic? The lowest-scoring games in NFL history. Sounds kinda boring, right? But trust me, it got pretty interesting.

So, I started by just poking around online, seeing what I could find. There’s a ton of info out there about high-scoring games, crazy comebacks, and all that exciting stuff. But the low-scoring games? Not so much. I stumbled on a few articles mentioning that there have been 73 games in NFL history that ended with no score at all. 73 games! That’s a lot of nothing, huh?
Then I got curious about the last time a game actually ended 0-0. Turns out, that was way back in 1943. The New York Giants and the Detroit Lions played a real snoozefest. I mean, these teams barely did anything the whole game!
But here’s the thing, in more recent times, games never end up 0-0. The lowest I could find was 3-0, which has actually happened six times. I dug into one of those games, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Miami Dolphins. I read some old articles. What a boring game.
My search continued. I found another interesting game. This one took place on November 29. I do not remember the teams now, but the score was 0-0.
As I dove deeper, I also learned about how some scores are just impossible in the NFL because of how the scoring system works. Like, you can’t have a game end 1-0 or 4-1. I do not remember the details, but I remember that I found that interesting.
So yeah, that’s basically what I did. I started with a simple question, and it led me down this rabbit hole of NFL history. I looked at a bunch of scores, read old game summaries, and learned a few things along the way. Not the most exciting topic at first glance, but it’s pretty cool to see how the game has changed over the years. It definitely made me appreciate the high-scoring games a lot more!
