Alright, so you wanna know how much them fellas talking on the TV ’bout football make, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t chicken feed, that’s for sure. These guys, the NFL commentators, they get paid a whole heap of money. More than most folks can even dream of, I reckon.
I heard tell some of them top dogs, like that fella Tony Romo and Troy Aikman, they make more than the fellas actually playin’ the game! Can you believe that? These boys runnin’ around, bangin’ into each other, gettin’ all bruised up, and the fellas up in the booth makin’ more! It’s a crazy world, I tell ya.
Now, don’t get me wrong, talkin’ ain’t easy. They gotta know all them players’ names, what college they went to, how many touchdowns they scored last season. It’s a lot to remember, I guess. They gotta study up, watch films, and talk to them coaches. They say they even make these fancy “game notes” with all sorts of stuff written down, like the player’s number and how good they been playin’ lately. Sounds like a lot of homework to me.
- Some of ’em, the really famous ones, they make millions, I’m tellin’ ya. Millions! Heard tell of one fella, Jim Rome I think his name was, makin’ somethin’ like 30 million dollars a year! Thirty million! That’s enough to buy a whole lotta cows, let me tell ya.
- Then there’s others, like that Greg Gumbel fella, he gets a measly 4 million a year. Measly! Can you imagine callin’ 4 million dollars measly? Only in the world of football, I guess.
- And that loudmouth fella, Stephen A. Smith, he ain’t callin’ no games, but he’s talkin’ ‘bout ‘em all the time on ESPN. They say he’s pullin’ in a cool 10 million a year just for yellin’ at the TV. Goes to show, there’s money to be made in just about anything these days.
But it ain’t just the top dogs gettin’ paid good. Even the regular announcers, the ones you don’t hear about so much, they still makin’ a good livin’. Way more than your average Joe, that’s for certain. They say it’s because the NFL makes so much money, so they got plenty to spread around. Makes sense, I suppose.
It’s kinda like that fella Strahan, used to play for the Giants, I think. He made a pile of money playin’, but then he went on to talkin’ ’bout the games and still made a pile! I heard tell one year he made more than 20 million just playin’ football! But even when he started talkin’ he was still getting like 17 million a year. See what I mean? There’s big money in football, no matter if you’re playin’ it or just talkin’ about it.
So, how much exactly do they make? Well, it varies, you know? The big stars get the big bucks, and the others get less, but still a whole lot more than most folks. It’s hard to say an exact number, but let’s just say they ain’t goin’ hungry, none of ‘em. They’re livin’ the good life, that’s for sure.
And it ain’t just football, you know? I heard tell them fellas that talk about boxing, they get paid pretty good too. Seems like if you can talk good on TV, you can make a whole lotta money, no matter what you’re talkin’ ’bout. Though I reckon talkin’ ’bout football is where the real money is at these days.
