First off, I gotta say, there’s a whole lotta shoes out there! So many brands, it’ll make your head spin faster than a whirligig. But seems like everyone and their grandma is wearin’ them Nike shoes. Yep, them swoosh-y things. Heard tell most of them fancy basketball players wear ’em too. I reckon’ that means they gotta be good, right? They say somethin’ like, uh, 65% of them fellers in the NBA, whatever that is, wear Nike. That’s a whole heap of shoes, I tell ya.
Then there’s them Adidas shoes. Not as many folks wearin’ them, but still a good bunch. Maybe 10% or so of them NBA fellers. Heard they’re kinda lighter than the Nikes, which makes sense, you don’t want them heavy things weighin’ you down when you’re tryin’ to make a basket.
Now, I saw this gal on TV the other day, some basketball player named Caitlin somethin’-or-other. She had on these fancy Nikes, called Kobe 6 somethin’. Looked real purdy, with all them colors and whatnot. Makes you wonder if them shoes help you play better, or if it’s just for show. I bet it’s a bit of both, you know, like puttin’ on your Sunday best to go to church, makes you feel good and look good too.
- Nike: Seems like everyone wears ’em. Guess they’re good for playin’ ball and lookin’ fancy.
- Adidas: Lighter than the Nikes, they say. Good if you don’t want your feet feelin’ like lead weights.
- Under Armour: Heard they got some shoes with that Curry feller’s name on ’em. He’s supposed to be real good at basketball, so maybe his shoes are too.
You know, some folks ask if you can wear these basketball shoes just for walkin’ around. Well, I reckon’ you can! They’re made for comfort, so why not? It’s like wearin’ your work boots to the store, ain’t it? Just a different kinda shoe for a different kinda job. And some of them are real stylish, got all sorts of colors and designs. Makes you look like you know what you’re doin’, even if you don’t know a basketball from a watermelon.
Durability, that’s another thing folks talk about. Means how long them shoes last before they fall apart. Nike’s are supposed to be tough, can take a beatin’. Which is good, ’cause them young’uns ain’t exactly gentle on their shoes. Adidas, they say they’re good too, but maybe not quite as tough. But then again, they’re lighter, so maybe that’s the trade-off, you know? Like a good work horse, strong but slow, versus a racehorse, fast but not as sturdy.
Now, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ special, somethin’ them real basketball players wear, there’s this Under Armour feller, Curry his name is. He’s got his own shoes, they say. Hibbett Sports sells ’em too. I guess if you wanna play like Curry, you gotta wear his shoes, right? That’s what them commercials tell ya anyway. But I reckon’ it takes more than just fancy shoes to be good at basketball. Gotta practice, gotta be strong, gotta have that somethin’-somethin’ inside ya that makes you wanna win.

Just gotta figure out what you need, what you like, and how much you’re willin’ to spend.
