Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… nfl helmet chair thing, ya know? I saw some folks doin’ it, makin’ stuff outta them helmets. Sounded kinda crazy at first, like, who’d wanna sit on a helmet? But then I thought, well, why not? People make chairs outta barrels, outta tires, why not a helmet?
First off, you gotta get yourself a helmet. Now, I ain’t talkin’ ’bout no new fancy one, the kinda them fellas wear on TV. Nah, you go find yourself an old one, maybe at a garage sale or somethin’. Heck, maybe your kid got one lyin’ around from when he played peewee football, all growed up now, don’t need it no more. That’s the ticket! Make sure it ain’t too beat up, though. You don’t want it fallin’ apart on ya while you’re sittin’.
Then you gotta figure out how to make it into a chair. Now, I ain’t no engineer, so I ain’t gonna tell ya to go buildin’ somethin’ fancy. Keep it simple, that’s what I say. You could just stick some legs on it. Yeah, find some sturdy wood, or even metal legs if you got ’em. Screw ’em on good and tight. Make sure it’s balanced, you don’t wanna go tippin’ over! That would be a hoot, wouldn’t it? But not for your backside!
- Find an old helmet
- Get some sturdy legs
- Screw the legs on tight
Or, if you’re feelin’ fancy, you could make it into a kinda… a rockin’ chair! That’s right! You know, the kind you see on the porch. That’d be somethin’, wouldn’t it? Sittin’ on your porch, rockin’ back and forth on your helmet chair, watchin’ the world go by. For that, you’d need some curved pieces of wood, like the ones on a real rockin’ chair. Again, screw ’em on good, make sure it’s sturdy. Safety first, ya know?
I saw some folks sayin’ you can use cardboard and glue. Now, I ain’t so sure about that. Cardboard? Seems kinda flimsy to me. But I guess if you ain’t too big, maybe it’ll hold ya. Me? I’d stick to wood or metal. Somethin’ that’ll last.
And listen, you don’t have to just make a chair. You could make a lamp outta it! Yeah, just stick a light bulb in there, run the wire, and boom! You got yourself a helmet lamp. Or how about a planter? Put some dirt in it, plant some flowers, pretty it up a bit. My neighbor, she’s got plants everywhere! Says it brings life to the house. Maybe she’s right. Though I’d rather grow some tomatoes.
People also talk about “Sunday Showdown Atmosphere”. Well, I don’t know much about that fancy talk. But I do know about sittin’ comfy, watchin’ a good game. And if you can do that on a chair you made yourself, well, that’s even better. It gives you somethin’ to talk about, don’t it? “Yup, I made this chair myself. Outta an old football helmet.” People be impressed. Or at least they’ll think you’re a bit… different.
Safety’s important! Don’t go usin’ helmets that are cracked or damaged. And when you’re drillin’ and screwin’, be careful! You don’t wanna lose a finger over a helmet chair. That’d be a story for the grandkids, alright, but not the kind you want. Wear your goggles too, keeps those little chips and specks out your eyes.
And when you’re done, you gotta decide where you gonna put this chair. Inside? Outside? Porch? Maybe you make a whole set! A couple of chairs, a table made outta an old tire… now you got yourself a whole patio set made outta stuff other folks threw away. Waste not, want not, that’s what I always say. And it’s good for the environment too, they say. Keeps junk out the landfills.
So, go on, get yourself an old helmet and get to work. You might just surprise yourself with what you can make. And who knows, maybe you’ll start a whole new trend. Helmet furniture! I can see it now… Just remember what I told ya: keep it simple, keep it sturdy, and keep it safe. And have a little fun while you’re at it. Life’s too short to be serious all the time.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go find myself an old helmet. I’m thinkin’ a rockin’ chair would be just the thing for my porch… or maybe I will grow some tomatoes!
