Well, let me tell you about this fella, Colin Cowherd, and what he’s yakkin’ about the football games. He’s on the TV and the radio, always goin’ on about who’s gonna win and who’s gonna lose. He calls ’em “predictions,” fancy word, huh?
This year’s NFL season, he’s got his ideas, just like everyone else. He talks real fast, sometimes I don’t even catch it all, but he’s sure got opinions. He says some teams are gonna be good, some are gonna be bad. That ain’t exactly rocket science, is it? Even my old rooster knows when the sun’s comin’ up, and that’s more reliable than some of these fellas throwing the pigskin around.
He was talkin’ on his show, “The Herd,” that’s what he calls it, like he’s got a bunch of cows he’s herdin’ around. He had this “top five bold predictions” he said. Bold, huh? Like he’s gonna wrestle a bear or somethin’. He thinks some teams that weren’t so hot last year, they’re gonna be good this year. And some teams that were good, well, he thinks they’re gonna stink. Happens all the time, doesn’t it? One year you’re on top, the next you’re in the dirt.
He even goes on and makes playoff predictions! Playoffs! That’s way down the road, like plannin’ your crops before you even planted the seeds. He picked fourteen teams he thinks will make it. Fourteen! That’s half the whole darn league! Seems like he’s just throwin’ mud at the wall and hopin’ somethin’ sticks, you know?
- He talks about who’s gonna win the whole shebang, the Super Bowl, they call it.
- And who’s gonna make the playoffs, and who’s gonna be sittin’ at home watchin’ on TV.
- He even talks about how many games each team is gonna win. Like he’s got a crystal ball or somethin’.
Folks get all worked up about it, you know? Betting their money, arguin’ with their neighbors. Me? I just watch the games, root for whoever’s got the purtiest uniforms, and hope nobody gets hurt too bad. These boys, they run around like crazy, bangin’ into each other. It’s a rough game, that football.
Now, this fella Cowherd, he’s got a website, Pickwatch, they call it. Folks go there to see what he thinks, what his “insights” are, more fancy words. They track how often he’s right, his “accuracy,” they say. I reckon nobody’s right all the time, not even the weatherman, and he’s got fancy gadgets and maps. So why folks listen to this Cowherd so much, I don’t know. But they do. They like hearin’ someone tell ’em what’s gonna happen, even if it ain’t gonna happen that way at all.
He was on TV, talkin’ about the upcoming season, 2024 and 2025, makin’ his picks. He says some teams gonna surprise ya. Well, everythin’s a surprise to me, so that ain’t sayin’ much. Football is a funny thing, you never know what’s gonna happen. One minute you’re cheerin’, the next you’re cryin’ into your beer, or sweet tea, in my case.
He broke it down, team by team, on his show. Said which ones would make a “playoff run.” Runnin’ around, that’s all they do, ain’t it? Runnin’ and throwin’ and hittin’. And he’s got his favorites, just like everyone else. Some teams he likes, some teams he don’t. He gets paid to talk about it, so I guess he’s gotta say somethin’.
Honestly, I don’t pay too much attention to these predictions. It’s just a game, after all. Folks get too worked up about it. Win or lose, the sun’s gonna come up tomorrow, and the rooster’s gonna crow. And that’s the truth, whether Colin Cowherd says it or not.
But hey, if you like listenin’ to him, that’s your business. He talks a good game, I’ll give him that. And who knows, maybe he’ll be right this year. Maybe those teams he picked will win. Maybe my old rooster will start layin’ eggs. You just never know.
So that’s the gist of it. Colin Cowherd, makin’ his NFL predictions, and folks listenin’ and arguin’ and bettin’ their money. Me? I’ll just be watchin’ the games, enjoyin’ the snacks, and hopin’ for a good show. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll even get a few of those predictions right myself, just by guessin’. It’s as good a method as any, I reckon.
