Alright, let’s talk about them basketball shoes, the ones that fella Ben Wallace wore. You know, Big Ben, the one who was always grabbin’ them rebounds. Folks say he was a real tough player, so his shoes gotta be tough too, right?
I ain’t no expert, mind you. I just seen some pictures and heard some talk. Seems like these shoes, they weren’t always the prettiest things. Some folks even said they looked like a “disaster”. Can you believe that? But they were cheap, real cheap. I heard tell you could get ’em for somethin’ like fourteen dollars. That’s cheaper than a good pair of work boots, I tell ya!
Ben Wallace and AND1
Now, I don’t know much about these shoe companies, but I heard tell Ben Wallace wore some shoes from a company called AND1. They were popular with them fellas who play streetball, you know, the fancy dribblin’ and all that. I guess Big Ben, he liked ’em too. They say some other basketball stars wore them AND1 shoes, fellas like Kevin Garnett and Jamal Crawford. Big names, I reckon.
AND1, they weren’t just sellin’ shoes, they were sellin’ a whole attitude, a way of playin’. Like you the best on the court, you ain’t scared of nobody. They made shoes for guys who played hard, guys like Ben Wallace who weren’t afraid to get in there and mix it up.
What to Look for in Basketball Shoes
Now, if you’re gonna get yourself some basketball shoes, even if they ain’t Ben Wallace’s, there’s some things you gotta think about. First off, you want them soles to be thick. Gotta protect your feet when you jumpin’ and runnin’ all over the place. And you need good grip, what they call traction, so you don’t go slippin’ and slidin’ and break your neck. That’s important, whether you’re playin’ inside or outside.
- Thick soles for cushion.
- Good traction so you don’t slip.
And don’t you go wearin’ them runnin’ shoes on the basketball court. They ain’t made for that. You’ll be twistin’ your ankles and whatnot. If you ain’t sure, go ask somebody who knows, a specialist they call ’em.
Big Ben’s Own Shoes
Later on, Big Ben, he went and started his own line of shoes. I heard they were cheap too. He called ’em “Big Bens”, simple as that. I ain’t seen ‘em myself, but folks say they weren’t the prettiest neither, but they got the job done.
Some Other Tough Shoes
There’s also talk of some other shoes Big Ben wore, the “Rise” and “Chosen One”. They say these were some tough shoes, made for battlin’ on the court. They were part of what they called a “Championship Retro Pack.” Sound fancy, don’t it? But the main thing is, they were tough, just like Big Ben.
I heard tell AND1, they got sold to some other company. Happens all the time in the business world, I guess. But them shoes, they still around, folks still wearin’ ’em. And they still remember Big Ben, grabbin’ them rebounds and playin’ tough.
So, there you have it. A little somethin’ about them Ben Wallace basketball shoes. They weren’t always pretty, but they were tough, and they were cheap. Just like Big Ben himself, I reckon.
