Following Logan Chitwoods Journey in Baseball: Whats Next?

Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Logan Chitwood, a baseball player, ya hear? I ain’t no expert, but I can surely piece together what I’ve heard and seen, just like I do with my quiltin’ scraps.

Following Logan Chitwoods Journey in Baseball: Whats Next?

This Logan fella, he plays baseball. Big strong boy, I reckon, 6 foot 1 and 185 pounds they say. Born way back in 1989, down in Kilgore, Texas. That’s a long ways from here, I tell ya. He throws and hits right-handed, just like my old man used to chop wood.

  • Born: March 28, 1989, Kilgore, TX
  • Height: 6′ 1″
  • Weight: 185 lbs
  • Throws/Bats: Right/Right

Now, they drafted him in 2010, the Oakland Athletics did. Round 19, pick number 575. Don’t rightly know what all that means, but it sounds important. Like pickin’ the best corn from the field, I guess. They sent him off to play for them Burlington Bees and Vancouver Canadians, and some other teams too. Minor league stuff, I think, not the big leagues like you see on TV. He played in 2010 and even after, like 2012.

They got all sorts of numbers for this boy, pitchin’ stats and hittin’ stats. I ain’t gonna bore ya with all that, numbers make my head spin like a top. But they keep track of everything, like how many times he throws the ball and how many times he hits it. It’s a whole lot of figurin’, more than countin’ chickens, I swear.

Seems like this Logan, he was kinda under the radar for a while. Nobody paid him much mind, I guess. But he kept on playin’, workin’ hard, just like a good farmhand. It reminds me of my grandson, always workin’ hard on his farm, even when nobody notices.

There’s another Logan Chitwood, too. Young fella, born in 2005 down in Kentucky. Now, this ain’t our baseball player, mind you. This young’un, he likes fishin’ and ridin’ horses and such. Different folks, same name. Happens all the time, like havin’ two red barns in the same county.

This baseball Logan Chitwood, he played for a while, maybe a few years. They got all his information on somethin’ called a “player page.” It’s like a whole history book about him, but just for baseball. Says when he played, who he played for, and all them numbers I told ya about. It’s like a family Bible, but for baseball players. They even got his salary on there, how much money he made. Can’t say I know how much, paper work always give me a headache.

So, that’s the story of Logan Chitwood, the baseball player. A fella who worked hard and played the game. He might not be famous like them fellas on TV, but he gave it his all, I reckon. Just like a good day’s work, you put in your best and go home tired but satisfied. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?

Now, I don’t know where he is now or what he’s doin’. Maybe he’s still playin’ ball somewhere, or maybe he’s moved on to somethin’ else. Life’s like that, you know? Always changin’, just like the weather. But one thing’s for sure, he was a baseball player, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of.
