Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this fella, Chris Morris, plays some basketball, they say. Now, I ain’t never seen him play myself, but the TV folks and them internet whippersnappers keep jabberin’ about him.
Who is this Chris Morris fella?
Well, from what I gathered, there’s a bunch of Chris Morrises runnin’ around. One fella, born way back in 1966, played a whole heap of basketball. ESPN says he played for 11 seasons, for like, three different teams. That’s a long time to be bouncin’ that ball, I tell ya. They say he averaged somethin’ like 11 points and near 5 rebounds a game. Now, I don’t know ’bout you, but that sounds like a fair bit of work to me.
This older Chris Morris, he’s from Atlanta, they say. Played for a team called the Nets, and some other one, the Suns I think. He even went over yonder to some place called “Arena Amman” in Jordan. Don’t ask me where that is, I ain’t never been on no airplane. He’s pretty old now, pushing 60 they say, so he ain’t playin’ no more, that’s for sure.
Then there’s this other Chris Morris, plays for the Phoenix Suns now. ESPN got his stats and all, points and rebounds and such. They don’t say how old he is, but he’s playin’ now, so he’s gotta be younger than that fella from Atlanta. Probably one of them youngins with all that fancy footwork and whatnot. I don’t watch much basketball myself, too much runnin’ and jumpin’ for my old bones.

What’s all this talk about stats?
Now, these TV fellas and internet folks, they always talkin’ ’bout “stats.” Points and rebounds and assists, all kinda numbers. I reckon it’s like countin’ how many eggs you get from your chickens, only with basketballs. The more points you score, the better you are, I guess. And them rebounds, that’s when you snatch the ball outta the air after someone misses a shot. Sounds like a rough game to me, all that pushin’ and shovin’.
I heard tell that the older Chris Morris, he was a forward. That means he plays near the basket, grabbin’ them rebounds and tryin’ to score points. He went to some school called Auburn University, graduated way back in 1988. Imagine that, learnin’ books and playin’ basketball at the same time. Must’ve been a smart fella, that one.

Now, hold on a minute, there’s another twist to this story. Seems like there’s a different Chris Morris altogether, this one ain’t no basketball player. He’s a movie fella, directs them TV shows and movies. He even acted in some stuff, they say. He ain’t got nothin’ to do with basketball, though. Just a fella with the same name, happens all the time, I tell ya. This Chris Morris fella was born in 1983, did some football playin’ too, but mostly he makes them funny shows. They call one of them shows “Veep,” somethin’ about politics. Politics, now that’s a whole ‘nother can of worms.
So, there you have it. A whole bunch of Chris Morrises, one playin’ basketball a long time ago, one playin’ now, and one makin’ movies. It’s a confusing world, I tell ya. Too many folks with the same name. But that’s life, I guess. Just gotta keep it all straight in your head, or just don’t worry about it too much.
