Alright, let’s talk about these…what do you call ‘em… womens sport crop tops. Yeah, those little shirts that don’t cover your whole belly. I seen ‘em on TV and in the stores. Young gals like to wear ‘em, I guess.

First off, what are they good for? Well, I reckon they keep you cool when you’re running around or doing exercises. You know, like when you’re chasing after them grandkids or hoeing the garden, but faster, I guess. They say it’s good for “optimum support” when you’re “working out”. Sounds fancy, but I bet it just means it holds your, you know, chest in place so they don’t bounce around too much. Makes sense, I suppose.
- They got all sorts of kinds. Some are tight, some are loose.
- Some got them thin straps, some got wider ones.
- They call ‘em “racerback” or “sleeveless”. Just means they don’t got sleeves, like them tank tops the men wear, but shorter.
Now, where do you get these things? Seems like everywhere sells ‘em these days. You got your fancy stores and your regular stores, too. They got names like “Crop Shop Boutique” and “Athleta”. Sound mighty highfalutin to me. But they also got ‘em at the place where I buy my socks and underwear, so I guess that’s good. They say you can find “trendy and stylish options”. Trendy? That just means they’re new, right? And stylish? Well, I guess that depends on what you like.
They come in all sorts of colors and “designs”. Red, blue, green, black, white, and even them bright, flashy colors like pink and orange. Some got patterns, some got words on ‘em. I seen one with flowers, looked kinda pretty. They got some with “mesh” too, which is that holey stuff, I guess that lets the air in so you don’t get all sweaty.
And they ain’t just for working out, it seems. These young girls, they wear ‘em everywhere. To the store, to the park, even just walking around town. They say it’s “casual wear”. Well, I guess if it’s comfortable, why not? Though I don’t know how comfortable they can be in the winter. Might catch a chill in your belly, you know.
Some of these tops are made for lifting weights, they call them “lifting crop tops”. I guess they’re extra tight or something to keep everything in place when you’re hoisting them heavy things. Me, I just lift my groceries and my grandkids, that’s enough lifting for me.
They also got these things they call “sports bras”. Now, them are like those crop tops, but tighter, I think. And they got “tees”, “tanks”, “boleros”, “long sleeves”, “singlets”, and “bralettes”. Too many names for me to remember! It’s all just clothes to cover your top half, far as I can tell. But they say these all “show off your hard work.” I guess if you spend all that time at the “gym”, you wanna show it off, right? I show off my hard work by having a clean house and good food on the table, that’s enough for me.
And they talk about “on-trend designs”. That just means they keep changing the styles so you gotta buy new ones all the time, I bet. Always trying to get you to spend your money, these stores. But if you like ‘em, and you got the money, I guess it don’t hurt none. They do say they are “perfect for workouts or casual wear,” so I guess you get your money’s worth if you wear ‘em a lot.
So, that’s what I know about these womens sport crop tops. They’re short shirts for exercising or just hanging around. They come in all sorts of colors and styles, and you can buy ‘em just about anywhere. Whether you need ‘em or not, well, that’s up to you.
